It sounds like she and Ridley Scott might do a non-Alien movie with Ripley. I don't know how they could do an Alien movie without an Alien. Maybe they can go back to just one Alien.

However Weaver wondered if the alien itself can and should factor into another film after the exposure its gotten in two “AVP” films. She asked aloud “whether there’s unchartered territory for a creature who’s become somewhat debased by this computer generated thing. I haven’t seen ["Alien Vs. Predator"] but I just think if you overexpose the creature, that’s a mistake.”

i say give us an alien film with out ripley, the alien movies were no longer about the threat of the creature than what new ways ripley could kill them. I want an alien film with new characters and a new story.

I think an Alien "re-boot" could be nice. Not necessarily dismissing the other films, just the crappy ones :)

Get a good director, writer, and actors, and let them have a shot at it. But a Ripley story without Aliens? Who would care to see that?

Having an actual story would be nice. And anything would be better than another AVP movie.

I will be excited it Scott does actually direct the next one.

The only thing I'm interested in seeing about Aliens, is the Predators gathering some extermination squads and going to the Alien homeworld and kicking some bigtime Xenophobic ass!

I'm sure thats a joke. If not....my freaking god. :banghead

Also, I hope the Alien isnt present. The poor creature has been reduced to nothing but a shoddy special effect. It was more then that in the other films.

I hope one day to save the Alien. Thats my dream goal. Because they sure as hell need it way more then the Predator does.

I say, lucky her.

Really, I don't know anything about the stories beyond the movies, but I'm sure there's a story as to why the derelict spacecraft with the aliens got to the planet in the first two.

Agreed completely, about the reboot. Although Ripley, as a character, might be interesting enough, would you (could you?) call it an Alien movie? Kind of interested to see where this goes...

i suppose it is good news that they are talking about another alien film and that requiem wasnt the nail in the coffin i expected it to be. maybe a predator 3 will become more likely aswell :rock:rock

as for a film just about ripley, i cant see that happening, i see it more of a weaver idea. she seems to care about ripley alot more than the actual alien.

“We’d have to go back to the drawing board on [the alien],” she said. “Ridley said that right away when we first talked about [a fifth film].”

ridley seems to have the right idea though :woo

I'd like to see a "Starship Troopers" styled movie (but not as corny) with the Colonial Marines vs the Aliens. Too bad it won't happen. :(

I've always wondered about the idea of making a film set in, say, the Alien universe/timeline that actually has nothing to do with the Alien. Sort of like how Soldier was supposed to be set in the Bladerunner universe but was nothing like it really (and also crap)...okay not a good example to show that its a viable idea.

Not sure how they'd tell a new Ripley story though. It couldn't be a prequel to Alien because Sigourney is much older now and yet we don't want a post-Resurrection story do we? What with Resurrection being an utterly crap film.

I too say lets see a space jockey story - doesn't have to be an Alien prequel - and fingers crossed its good and therefore doesn't detract from the wonder and mystery like the star wars prequels did by being s>>t.

:horror
I cringe at the idea of them messing with the Space Jockeys. I have a strong feeling they'd mess it up.

I wouldn't mind a spin-off of the Colonial Marines, but then it wouldn't be an Alien movie.
What's and alien movie without the main antagonist? Star Trek?

You want MORE of the Alien vs. Predator stuff

Did you notice that I included nothing "human" in that post? No humans = no discernible dialogue = no bad acting = action driven plot. I have faith that at some point it can be done, and done well. Just leave the "human" aspect out and shoot for the hard R.

Besides, TBH, I'd rather see another AVP than another Aliens movie so bad that not even Sigourney can act her way out of it. Aliens3 and Resurrection were Swiss cheesed with plot holes and despicable cash-ins.

If there were to be a "Start Over" or "Reboot", I certainly hope it takes place post "Alien" and "Aliens". Simply pretend that parts 3 and 4 never happened. Call it "Aliens 2". The fans will understand and appreciate it.

You can have Ripley passing her tiara to an adult Newt, who is equally as arse-kicking as her adoptive mother. Throw in Hicks and an updated Bishop for old-time's sake.

Have the Alien infestation come to Earth. Some colonists or miners capture several of the face huggers and bring them to Earth. Led of course by an "artificial person" (android), following programming regarding the finding of alien lifeforms... The battle for mankind's survival begins...

"On Earth Everyone Can Hear You Scream..."
