If there were to be a "Start Over" or "Reboot", I certainly hope it takes place post "Alien" and "Aliens". Simply pretend that parts 3 and 4 never happened. Call it "Aliens 2". The fans will understand and appreciate it.

that's the problem with nostalgia. it makes people hate change and original ideas. and it's the reason so many ^^^^ty sequels get made.

Why so much hatred towards Alien3? Yes, the theatrical cut is flawed but the working print shows what could have been a great great movie.

As it is (the working print), it's already a great movie to close the trilogy.

Its because of this ^^^^ we probably wont see another "good" Alien movie.

They should do an ALIEN movie where they basically do the film that Starship Troopers should have been.

All out war on the Alien home planet using robotech suits. Sigourny only would appear in flashbacks interspersed thorughout the film of her telling the original Alien encounter to the child that eventually grew up into the main (Johnny Rico-like) character. Or even Sigourny appearing in recorded documentary that is being shown to the soldiers in training videos.

I actually like the sound of this....

I didn’t really process what Weaver was saying at the time I suppose but it sounds to me like we might be less looking at “Alien 5″ and more of “Chronicles of Ripley.” Are Scott and Weaver thinking about an altogether different type of sci-fi adventure for the character? Color me intrigued.


But as for the alien movies. I think they should stop now.

Thats sounds cool. Although im a huge Alien fan, id say Aliens is my fav just for the battle scenes, so all out war would be sweet.

We can't get the horror back. The creature isn't scary anymore, simple as that - its been totally demystified after 6 films. Buggered if I know what could work but you can't make it scary again.

I actually think you could. Give the movie the right atmosphere use one or only a few aliens in a small closed enviorment and make the movie make you jump.
Keep tension in the movie alot , keep the viewer on the edge of there seat.
I think in movies anything can be possible , it just has to be done right.
Not that I could do any of this. I just think after seeing certain people make such amazing movies they could bring this series back to what it used to be.

It IS possible. Bring the rape angle back, make the creature totally unpredictible. Even if it means changing it up a tad. Once they do that, I'll be happy with whatever they do after that.

You can make anything scary again after its been "demystified" if you have the right filmmaker. Two-Face became a punchline joke after his appearance in the first Shumacher film. Then look what Nolan did with the character.

Zombies were silly and old hat until 28 Days Later and the Dawn of the Dead remake. You just need the right visionary behind the helm.
