Well said, Nathan
Personally, I really appreciate the attention to detail in your work, as well as (from a customer perspective) your openness to input. I always get the impression that your ultimate goal is to give me (and all of your customers) exactly what they envision in their mind's eye. And that, is awesome.
Congrats on that fantastic snake eyes piece and very well stated post there. I cant stand artists that dont take fan criticism (cough Ashley Wood cough) and act as if they know it all because they are the actual artists.
You sir are one of the best talents around here and I thank you for sharing your work.
Wow!
I'm ashamed to say that this is the first time I've looked at your work. Some really amazing work you do! Some day I hope to be close to your level.
Glad you guys are psycked for Evil Supes. I can't wait to reveal him. I was hoping to live up to Viva's rendition. I think I have.
I wanted to make a comment on that video I posted, and I hope some people are paying attention. The guy in the video mentioned that what defines an artist is the ability to see what is right with something and what is WRONG with it (paraphrasing).
Some people in this industry look down on the fans who like to _____ about how things don't look right, dismissing them as fanboys who don't know what it takes to make collectibles.
I've been and am on both sides of this issue. I am a fan first, and a professional by choice. And on both sides of that fence, I have an artist's eye, like the guy in the video talks about. Yes, it is important to acknowledge the fact that this industry is built on art, and it should be celebrated. However, this industry's success depends on recreating licensed icons, and the better you do at that, the more success you deserve to enjoy. To accomplish screen accuracy requires an artist's eye, not a cluster____ of fat egos, and not budget concerns.
When fans point out something wrong, it's because they SEE it, and they get frustrated when a group of artists who have shouldered the responsibility to achieve excellence didn't.
Art powers this industry, fans drive this industry, but an artist's eye is the key that starts and stops the machine that makes the magic. If fans are able to pick something apart, it's probably because the key got broken off in the ignition at some point.
That's the way I see it anyway. And I am happy to say that I have had the pleasure of working with some other small business artists that get that and are open to suggestions, and even more so have implemented them for great results.

Well said man, That's why guys on these broads are so overly critical, they are passionate about it.

words. Have you ever tried to get in Legacy Effects or ADI, Nathan?
It's my pleasure, omega. Thank you for taking the time to say that. Makes me feel good about what I do.
Thank you, DP. And welcome to my thread. I don't think you'll have any trouble joining me at my level. The work you did on the Sano Alien is inspirational. I saved those pics and look at them frequently. As you know, I have my own kit to paint soon, and I love a challenge. The high bar you set on your kit I consider to be a challenge. Thank you. And if that was really only your second or so paint up, I know you're going to blow people's minds with what you pull off down the road.
Some people don't like to give away the secrets of their success, but if I can help with advice or suggestions in any way as you try to grow as a painter, by all means, PM me. I love sharing what I do.
Its coming!!!! I can feel it in my bones!!!
Need a 1/6 Jack Daniels bottle stat!!!! And yes I know its not JD in the movie, but its my favorite whiskey so thats what it will be.
Everything is done. Just waiting on some gloss to set on the CRYPTONITE stalagmites base before I cram them into the base.
And I have to do P90X for the day.
But then....pics-o-rama!
