Thanks for the compliment, Scar.

And I get that you were trying to be specific with the compliment by quoting my post. I don't have a huge problem with that, although it would save page space if you edit out all but maybe one or two photos in particular that stand out to you, or just cut out all of them, and leave just the text. On the other hand, if the pics are several pages back, feel free to repost them. It helps keep my thread interesting to look at for people who might like to jump to the last page all the time. Just a helpful hint.:wink1:

No, I didn't say go back and start reposting ____ for no reason.

That's just because I haven't been posting much work done for the Freaks in a bit, but more is coming. I'm still getting though hell week (times 2) with starting up with Disney (2 projects), the video game company (3 of the same statue), and doing Hawkeye for Kotobukiya/Erick Sosa all at the same time. I have never had such a busy, but profitable half month in my whole professional painting career. Praise God for the work, and more importantly for seeing me through it.:clap

Well Nathan I hope you get through it. I'm sorry Nathan if I'm changing the subject again but if you don't mind may I please ask one question aboout the Scar predator that you might be making for me?

He never gives you anything you can't handle. I've learned that a lot lately.

Congrats on the success, you def earned it. :duff

Fantastic job on Neyo. Speaking of which, I always wondered did Sideshow require You to varnish Your prototypes extensively? All this handling and posing for photo ops, must be pretty damaging to the paint.

They didn't require anything like that. I do always prime and seal my paint well though. Even so, ruining prototypes is part of the process. Just about everything that gets sent to China gets so badly treated it just ends up in a pile of parts. As long as I get a paycheck and pictures, I'm satisfied with my job though. The ones in photos usually get a bit banged up, too. On a couple visits to Sideshow I would see something I painted with chipped paint, broken of parts, or the whole thing just lying in a pile on a shelf, but they have artists in-house that are more than capable of repairing anything that needs repairing for pics or whatnot.

That project is pretty far down the road, and Hot Toys is probably going to reveal their new version before I start on yours, but go ahead and PM me your question. I'll answer it.

The weathering on Neyo is masterful, Nathan :bow

Thank you. Hopefully the China factory can get close. They're good at the hard edge details because they have a process for that, but the general weathering seems yet to be something they are too good at.

Thank you. Yep, He answered my prayer with more than I expected, just enough to keep me praying to get through it all, but not so much that I couldn't meet every single deadline.

After I finish the last couple projects this week, I'm going to reward myself by finishing my Sano Alien completely. He's about 65% done, but still a lot of detailing to do.

Neyo looks superb! :clap

So do you brush and airbrush pieces like Neyo?
Just curious is all. You can PM me if you would prefer.

I can talk about my own paint techniques. Every artist is different, and China's process is totally different anyway.

I do both. General dirting of an area starts with an airbrush, but to get that spattered effect, you have to use a brush. Scratches are all tiny brushes or sharp tools to remove paint. The armor white is applied by airbrush.

That's cool. Thanks, Nathan. Didn't think of starting with an airbrush, but it makes sense with how you described it in the process. You must have one heck of a steady hand, too. My experience with an airbrush....well I would have oversprayed his helmet bigtime!

Yeah, I can do without China's process, although that would be an interesting conversation to have....maybe over a drink at CVI if you go. :duff

Yep, just about 2 years even from trial project to final project. I even have 5 unrevealed projects still to go (unless I've forgotten any again).

It's such a shame they let "personality clash" decide the fate of a business relationship. But, to be fair, I was the one pushing for friendships. But, in more than one way, I'm actually very glad that door closed, and now I find myself in the very good company of former Sideshow outside venders. I'd still be happy to paint their awesome products if they asked though.
