Ooooohhh ...

Settle in boys, this is gonna be good!

:drool

As a creative writer myself, I always get just a tiny bit giddy when I buy new pens and a fresh notebook (which I do before every major project). The potential of the blank page is really exciting to me. Do you get that way when you encounter a fresh piece to paint? (Especially if it's a piece you've never painted before.)

Does the potential of the "blank canvass" give you a little thrill? Or does it terrify?

That's cool that you are a creative writer. I am too, but I've never done it professionally. I'd sure like to though. Maybe that will be the next goal in life I will tackle. Stunt man...check. Artist...check. Writer....not yet...

I think I get more terrified of new projects, actually, yet thrilled at the challenge of not knowing what to expect. The hope of it living up to my vision motivates me to jump in, especially the more successes I have, but usually I worry that this time I might not live up to the standard I've set for myself and the standard I've already proven to all of you. I'm usually pleasantly surprised that things turn out as well or better than I hoped though. And with all of my experience these last few years though, my confidence is high enough to tackly anything now, and my success it just a matter of not giving up until I'm satisfied with it.

My success on the 1/5 statue gives me plenty of confidence for this 1/3 piece though, so I am actually very excited by this blank canvas for sure.

This was an interesting project: converting a Triad Vanity into Kate Nauta as Lola in The Transporter 2. It's not a great likeness obviously, but it's a fun sculpt to paint, and I like the way it came out. And even though the hair isn't sculpted to look wet, I couldn't resist giving her makeup that slightly runny look.

How did you sneak that camera into my studio?

With that paint job, that might be one of the coolest female sculpts I have ever seen :rock

Thanks. Get this...she doesn't even have sculpted teeth. Paint trick!

Do you individually paint all those freckles or do you sort of pull back the wet brush and "splatter"? They look so real.

No, I use an airbrush actually, but not in a way you might think. That's all I'm going to say though cause that is definitely one of my success secrets.

Brilliant paint up! And definitely a headsculpt I never thought i'd see :lol

Can't wait to see Alien also :D

I have to make time to dig deeper into your lab. I only went as far back as Laney74's Marty(GREAT coa btw). Everything from there foward is killer. You have infinite skills bro. PERFECT homage paid to everything that is Giger and Space Jockey's on the Xeno. That has me drooling. Looking forward to seeing how you freak that Xeno bust!

Thank you, PopCultKid, and welcome to the Freaks forum. There is a lot in this thread. The Alien is definitely one of my top pieces, but do dig around. I've been at this for a while. Lots of great Sideshow projects in here, too.

:lolLove the gif.

That Alien bust should be something awesome once you are all done with it, based on the recent work you did.

Agreed on the freckles comments - they always look incredible.

Thanks for posting her in here, Chris. I love to see owners pics of the heads I paint all built up. She looks great. I'm very excited to see how well your Kaylee will come out with all the experience I've gained since my first attempt on mine.

Hey buddy, I'm due back from Vegas on Saturday so I would appreciate if you could send my Cameron head out when you can!

I'll send across my delivery address again, in the off chance that you dont have it in hand.

Thanks again :)
