Your over paying silver snail should sell u knee pads with ur surfer I'm in Canada and ss changed the shipping to fedex. The shipping costs are a lot lower now. That surfer should of been about 400 -425 landed range. (thats everything taxes and shipping)

and how is that possible

as others have said, you can order direct from SS and get most things for less than the Snail charges - or, if you have a friend who lives near the border, have items shipped to them and either pick it up when you visit, or have them bring it across when they visit you.

oh well wats an extra hundred bucks lol totally worth it though:lecture

Did they give you a discount??? Anyway, it should be slightly below $530 after the dollar conversion, shipping and brokerage fees when you get it straight from SS. The EX, I mean.

I love this statue, it´s Awesome, i have mine just a couple weeks ago and I don´t tire of admire !, I´m very happy, Hulkbuster and this one are the best SS statues of in my colection, this year.

Okay, so I think I have a pretty easy time admitting I was wrong about something, now is one of those times. Originally I had the Surfer pre-ordered. Even early on with it ordered I bagged on it here and there and generally found excuses to not care for it. I ended up canceling right before it shipped.

As photos streamed in from other buyers I went back and forth on this piece, wanted to pull the trigger, but then found reasons not to.

So this weekend I was at the local sci-fi convention in Dallas and one of the dealers tables had this for sale at their booth. It's the first time I had ever seen it and was kind of floored. Since the convention was 2 days I decided to sleep on it. We went back today and did some bartering back and forth and I was able to take this piece home, brand new for a hair over $200! Thats about $150 off of the retail plus shipping price.

So I stand corrected, this piece even though I still don't care for 2 of the heads is very impressive.

Since tons of photos have already been posted, I decided to do something more artistic.

I replaced one of the white LED bulbs in my case with a purple LED bulb.
I took some fun shots, undoctored in PS, this is how awesome light plays off of this piece.

Enjoy

Ironically I posted almost the exact same story in the Silver Surfer Video Review thread. I originally liked the piece, then I heard all the negative comments about the piece, and canceled right before shipping. Like you I found a great deal on this piece (just a little over $200) and jumped on it, now I'm glad I did.

We were both initially wrong...but at the end of the day we both wound up with a damn nice statue.

I may be in the same boat. However, my issue remains the mid-section of this piece.
Something still looks off there...

This piece looks far better in person than in pics. Almost canceled my order but at the last minute decided to keep it. I still like the Bowen Surfers' more, but the SSC Surfer is a massive and unique looking piece. I was very surprised by how much I liked the statue when I received it.

Last week, the little lady wanted me to go with her to Melrose to go shopping. On the way home, we stopped by Golden Apple and they had a Silver Surfer displayed. It was huge!!! My lady then looked at me and said, "didn't you have him on order but then you decided to cancel him." I said, "yes but I wasn't sure if I wanted him." She gives me "the look" and says, "I can't belive you cancelled him! You should have kept the order!":thud:

One week later, I'm waiting for a seller to contact me and let me know when we can make the exchange. Ended up getting the EX for $100 below retail (that's including CA tax and shipping if I ordered through Sideshow).

In short, this is what I've learned:

1. Listen to your lady.
2. Blame her for your bad decision making.
3. Blame your LCS for having Silver Surfer Displayed.
4. Patience is a virtue.
