I finally found a few moments away from the babies to put this together and to share some initial thoughts on the statue.

1) This is a stunning piece. Surprisingly so too as I was among those who wasn't exactly floored with in-hand pics. Mouth opened, foot entered.

Moving forward, the Surfer really knows how to take center stage in the room. It's ominous, daring and dynamic, and knows exactly what it wants to be. It's a fabulous interpretation of the character, which isn't something we're generally guaranteed to see with Sideshow.

2) I like all the display options. However, the serious face is the one I like the most. The left bent arm and right outstretched arm is likely the way I would go too. The cosmic ray arms are okay, though I prefer my first choice.

3) This piece is huge. It's easily twice the size of most Bowen pieces, and could take up three times the space.

4) There are definite seams issues. These are a number of seams areas too and they are visible even from across the room, especially around the head and right bicep. Thankfully, I'm not terribly bothered by them. Though given the choice, I wish SS paid closer attention to them as I think these could have been avoided.

5) The body type, in general, works for me. However, the pelvis/hips/buttocks area looks a bit disproportionate. Something is off there. Depending on the angle you look at the piece, that area can really stand out. However, it's not as bad as the pics seem to show.

6) The print is, well, fin, I suppose. However, like all the other useless SS prints I have, it'll never leave the box. IMO, what a waste of space, paper, and money,

7) I suspected this piece would go down in price and was rewarded for my patience. I paid $250 US in total for the Ex. I was ok with that.

Overall, I give this a B+.
However, it could have been an A.

If you're a Surfer fan, you will love this comiquette. As word gets out how gorgeous this piece actually is, I can see secondary market prices rising. If you're on the fence, I suggest you buy it now while it's still quite affordable. There are deals to be had. I'm willing to bet eBay sellers will listen to offers.

Nice review...you make a number of great points.

Why, thank you, Tray.
I often find your posts quite illumitating as well, especially your takes on market behavior.

:goodpost:

Thanks for the compliment Rising....I would like to think I have picked up one or two things regarding business after working in Corporate Banking over the past 15+ years. :lol

By the way...loving the Thanos piece. Thanks again!!! Wife is looking forward to receiving Warlock in the next couple of days. She already has a spot saved in one of her Detolfs.

Apparently, shipping it the business day before labor day or the day after made no difference to FedEx. It sat there in limbo from Friday to Tuesday. I hoped it would get to you sooner. Darn them national holidays... lol.

Thanks for the review Risingstar! :) I'm also waiting to pounce on this piece...$250 US all inclusive (to Canada, right?) sounds like a great deal! Did you get yours off of eBay?

Montreal represent!

Yuppers, off a Canadian dealer on eBay who was more than happy to make a deal off the site.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I've been collecting Sideshow for about two years now and today I received the Silver Surfer comiquette. I was on the fence for a while about this piece and after seeing it in person today, I can say that I was blown away by how good this piece looks! Absolutely stunning! I like how they give you three different heads and two sets of arms (plus left hand closed fist) for countless combinations of displays. This is right up there with the Gambit PF as favorites in my collection and I am not even that big of a SS fan. There has been a lot of discussion about the seams on the head and arms and yes, they are there but it seems to me that by looking down on him makes the seams a complete non issue in my book. I admit I'm not that crazy about the power cosmic trailing from his hands, but it is pretty cool with the multi color silver/purple hues. My favorite pose is with the left fist clenched and the "normal" head. I've attached some pics. I am no photographer so hopefully they come out okay.
