:lol

I kinda liked the first one. But this one looks like typical Hollywood dreck. I don't recognize one actor in it.

I recognize the male lead since he was the deputy in the first one and he was in season 2 of The Wire.

I thought the first one was ok but it became a bit wash, rinse, repeat. He investigates a bit during the day, watches a film by night and something happens.

This is true. And yeah it's the deputy, I thought he looked a little familiar.

I liked the first one, but I will wait to see this on PPV. The mother has been in a lot of films. I always thought that demon guy was pretty creepy looking. I think this will be just as good as the first if anyone else actually liked it but me :lol

I also liked the first one, but will wait to rent this one. I just see the studio trying to make this one of those movies with a crap sequel coming out every year or so.

I wonder if the lights work in the house this time? :lol

In all fairness the power did go out in one of the main scenes...

This is just another franchise to try and compete with the Insidious and Conjuring franchises.

Except that Sinister was way better then either of those films..

Anyways

Just got back from this... IMO It does not deserve the hate... Is it as good as the first? Nope.... Is it the crap sandwich some are claiming to be? Nope again... Watch the Gallows if you want to see what a "real" bad horror film looks like.

Sinister was not a film that called for a sequel. It was a stand alone film.. It would be hard to recreate what was done... So they went in a different direction... And I thought it worked. I was worried about the "ghost kids" but since the film did not try and make them scary but rather just some tormented kids forced to play Mr. Boggie's game It ended up working for me..

I was glad Bagul was not a big part of this film... I thought the trailers made it look like they were trying to make him the next Freddy. He was not in it much and that is for the better.

As I said... Not as good as the first but a decent follow up.

I should add that I think the first film is one of the best horror films made in the last 15 years. I think that it's sense of dread, score, and eerie feeling helped it stand out from other horror films that have been made... Why "It Follows" gets all the hype and Sinister gets passed over is beyond me... Sinister IMO had much more atmosphere, a better feeling of dread, a more eerie score, and a better overall story. No offence to the "It Follows: fans... I just think it's weird that that film got such universal praise from critics and fans. I liked it better when it was called Ringu.

I saw this tonight and I'm with you Jaws. Pt. 1 was really good and underrated and this was a fair follow-up that worked. I think I'll appreciate the new formula/direction after a second watch, but the overall concept of Bughuul and the story is great. I do think it was delivered better in the 1st one but this was a good flick that I know will grow on me.

I'll give it a watch whenever it hits Netflix/TV. I did mention Insidious and Conjuring in a prior post, and I do agree I liked Sinister more than those since S1 wasn't just another ghost film.

The first sinister is severely underrated. I'll wait til this one makes it to on demand

Not a bad choice... I think it;s worth a trip to the theaters but I am a horror buff.

Yeah.. I think it was the only direction the film could take.. Reminds me of Hostel 2. It had to tell the same type story but from a very different view. Hostel 1 the victims/Hostel 2 the killers... Sinister - the adult victims/Sinister 2 - the ghost children / killer child

About the only thing you could do with it without making the exact same film again..

Any horror film that makes money is probably going to become a franchise.

I was shocked this film was able to pull it off as well as it did because the first film is a very stand alone type story as far as not being able to break much new ground with it. I thought this was much better then Insidious 2 and Anabel. Hell I think I liked it more then Insidious 1 and The Conjuring.

Note: Not a huge fan of either of those film.. I thought the first hour of both were good but felt they both fell apart in the second half of the story... I HATE all the Further stuff in the insidious films (probably why I liked 3 the best as it had the least amount of Further in it) and the whole possession part of the Conjuring. I had other issues also.. What scare James Wan just does not scare me.
