Ski nailed that odd Sideshow paint app. They fit PERFECTLY. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Damn fine job Dave. Much appreciated. Very grateful. And Nam and Marc.

It's amazing if you click on the first page of this thread and then click on the last to see how much you've improved with everything.

There is some sexual joke in this image; I'm just not coming up with it

Amazing work on these! And I'm glad Chase posted that before image... shows how naked the base sculpt was in terms of paint detail. It just blows my mind that even a "good" paint job from Sideshow is still so basic and lifeless compared to paintwork from nobody companies like Soldier Story

Glad there are artists here to take the figures to the next level

LOL, glad King could bring it with these pics, it always hits me harder that they are more than just heads whenever you see something that complete come together. I can't thank King enough for posting those, it makes me wish I didn't have to give these guys out!

Quick question; what kind of brush do you use for eye work. I've got some pretty tiny ones, but they're so cheap they tend to have stray bristles that jack me up Curious if you have any recommendations on size, style or brand?

I would say if you can find any of the Sables, those last a bit longer than a regular brush but it also depends how good you clean them and it takes just a bit of maintenance with some brush cleaning solution or even rubbing alcohol to save the longevity of the life of the brush.

For size, I use anywhere from 00 to 000 rounds, there's also some very very fine brushes if you can find pinstripe brushes, the smaller you get the steadier your hand has to be IMO. I have VERY steady hands, so it's not a problem since I can hold a position without moving for the amount of time that I need to add detail to the iris. I would say that's at least one of the greater factors that helps out quite a bit whenever doing eyes. That and your vision , I know it sounds too fundamental and of course you have to "look" at sculpts all day while painting but I don't have to strain to look at something that tiny where as I've talked to other painters and they are just bugging out and have to step back and take breaks, etc...

A lot more goes into than a lot of people realize, definitely have to keep a pace and remain patient.

Sideshow's sculpts are great... and what do you mean by "his mom really nailed the sculpts"? Does he not sculpt these himself?
