I think this game used to be True Crime L.A. before Square Enix picked up the publishing rights. It was shown a while ago, surprised there wasnt a thread. More to come at E3.

Looks like a mix between GTA, True Crime, and the Yakuza series.

Release date: August 14th 2012

I watched a couple of videos of this game that I downloaded on my Xbox and I liked what I saw. The combat looks really cool.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any talk in this thread today, this game is getting great reviews. I think I might pick it up, it looks really awesome :rock

I'll definitely be getting this.

Potential sleeper hit of the year.

Finally got my GMG key code for this. Looking forward to digging into this later this evening.

Some vids and stuff. Reviews are generally good.

I'm still working through my backlog, but I'll probably grab this when I see a decent bargain. Looks cool from what I've seen and heard so far.

Just traded in 7 OLD ass 360 games that were just collecting dust and picked up Sleeping Dogs and only had to pay $7 bucks for it :rock :rock :rock

Can't wait to play :D

I kinda want to buy and play this, but I think I'm going to wait until it gets cheaper. And I've got a bunch of other PS3 games that I haven't played yet.

Bought my copy today after reading and watching multiple positive reviews.

I've been playing for a few solid hours so far and this game is incredible... the fighting has to be my favourite, I love that you can interact with the environments while fighting, i.e. while fighting another local triad gang in a market, I took one guy's face and put it through a fish tank, threw another into an electrical box (thus electrocuting him), and pretty much curbed stomped the other guy. Because of all the different combos and different actions I did to fight the guys, it created an intimidation meter and the rest of the gang just ran away.

Everything else is top notch, the driving and motorcycles are really fun to control. One other thing that I'm really enjoying is all the interactivity around the cities and markets. You can go into markets and get different kinds of foods, clothes, even furniture for your apartment, collect protection money from local store owners, etc. Furthermore, the whole world just feels 'alive'. If you've played other sandbox games, usually the poor ones just have dead worlds with nothing going on but this one is just thriving- I've had a drunk guy try to ruin my picture of the ocean, some dude piss on my car, seen a few street performance shows, flirted with some girls, had my wallet stolen (they attempted but I chased them down).

This game is nothing but fun and definitely the sleeper hit of the year. If you like sandbox games with awesome action, really interactive worlds, and (so far) a really great storyline with excellent voice acting, then get this game.

Also, the graphics are AWESOME.

:rock :clap

Sounds good to me, I hope to try it out this weekend.

You'll love it, this game is truly awesome and nothing but fun.

The voice acting is great so far, I had no idea that so many talented people were involved: Tom Wilkinson, Emma Stone, Lucy Liu, etc.

:clap

Finally got a chance to play a bit tonight. I am enjoying it immensely right off the bat. Usually it takes me a while to warm up to open-world games, since most of them possess a level of jankiness that one has to adapt to, but Sleeping Dogs is great from the get-go.

Driving feels good and easy to get a feel for quickly after i acclimated to driving on the left side of the road. Combat took me a while longer to get the hang of because of hiw limited your skill set is at the beginning and because i wasn't taking advantage of the environment kills, but after unlocking new moves I'm really enjoying the feel. It's like Batman: Arkham City's combat but with a kung-fu bent. Only thing I think needs improvement so far is the camera.

The graphics are some of the best I've seen in an open-world game. There is some exceptional attention to detail in regards to the city and it's inhabitants. Pedestrians will walk around talking on cell phones, some will be sitting at restaurants or eating out of a take-out container, drunk dudes will piss on the sides of buildings, etc etc. driving in the rain and seeing the wetness of surfaces reflect lights is quite nice. Wasting time driving around the HK-like city with the radio tuned to NinjaRadio is quite fun in itself.

There seems to be a lot to do. I haven't gotten that far and I'm sticking close to the main story missions. Expecting some side missions to pop up, though I already see some for drug busts, favors, debt collecting, and street racing.

I also like the characters and the story set-up. Really looking forward to playing it more later.
