Wow even more closer today, i think thats a testament to how good the 3 films are in fans eyes.(plus givin how many SW fans are on this site)

Still 70 votes aint ****.
But how many of they come in the Marvel section. Post something like this in LOTR area I never would have seen it.

Another complicating factor is that Star Wars offers a richer universe with more characters, creatures, hardware, locations and eye candy, which, depending on your point of view, either compensates for, or is responsible for, shortcomings in the plot or acting.

Star Wars Universe richer and more diverse than the Marvel Universe? What ever you are smoking please pass it my way.

But in all seriousness the Prequel Trilogy did feel over loaded in some instances and the story did suffer at times because of it.

Spider-man vs. the prequels...there is no contest. And I'm not even a Marvel fangirl. I'm just a fan of the Spider-man films. They blow the prequels away completely.

The storyline has been excecuted well for the most part, and I care so much more about the characters of Peter, MJ and Harry than I do Anakin, Padme and Obi-Wan. The SW prequel universe may have more characters, but the characters in SM are more developed and better written. I had a couple issues with SM3, but I had so many issues with the prequels that I lost interest in SW permanently.

The prequels don't hold a candle to the Spider-man series.

Sorry, I should have been clearer: I was talking about what you actually get to see on screen, i.e. Spidey's immediate universe, not the Marvel Universe at large.

The Prequels and the Spidey trilogy are both trying to do different things with different scales.

Sure Spidey doesn't have different planets and aliens and spaceships and such, but it shouldn't.

The best way to compare the two IMO is to evaluate how well each trilogy accomplishes what it sets out to do.

Spiderman wins hands down for me. The prequels try for a bigger more intricate story yes, but they drop the ball in so many places - dialogue, acting, embarassing ill timed attempts at humor, poor pacing, poor story structure, and overall gaps in logic and common sense. Segments works, but the thing as a whole is a mess.

I knew what you meant, but since Spidey is the center of the Marvel Universe you kind of have to count the whole universe.
But I get your point, well taken.
