Has anyone listened to this yet? I just heard the songs over lunch and they're pretty good. Especially for free. :yess:

Teargarden by Kaleidyscope

Billy Corgan: "The story of the album is based on 'The Fool's Journey', as signified in the progress of the Tarot. It is my intention to approach this by breaking down the journey of our life here into four phases as made by these different characters; the Child, the Fool, the Skeptic, and the Mystic."

All of the songs will be released free as 192-kbps, DRM-free MP3 files, available from direct links on the band's website. Meanwhile, the songs will be released as eleven four-song limited edition CD EP box sets. The first physical EP, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope Vol. 1: Songs for a Sailor, consisting of a wooden box with the 4-song CD, a 7" vinyl record with two additional songs, and a hand-carved stone obelisk, will be released May 25 by Rocket Science Music. Finally, the complete forty-four song album will be released as a complete box set, accompanied by an art film and a making-of documentary entitled The Making of Teargarden.

I really wanted to like this first installment.

B O R I N G*

Billy peaked at Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness** and it has been a steady decline ever since.

:monkey2

*Waller you're right though. I can at least listen to this in the background without feeling the need to shut it off. :lol

** One of the greatest double albums ever made. :lecture

Look at it this way, he still has 40 songs to go. There's still hope.

You are correct, sir. Mellon Collie is truly and awesome album!

Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and Adore (beautiful underrated album) FTW, I met Jimmy in person, great guy, he signed my drum skin and CD covers

What the band got back together?!:clap I didn't know.

I have got most of their previous albums. Their old stuff are fantastic.

Definitely getting this new one.

Not feeling it.
Gish and Siamese Dream are still the ones for me ;)

Siamese Dream is definitely their best album ever,i like just about every track on it, Mayonaise being one of my favorites and the last half of Hummer is awesome.

I remember listening to SD back in my grade 7 skater days, good times.Melon Collie on the other hand i thought sucked, hated Zero and Bullet with Butterfly Wings especially, some other tracks on it were ok though(Thirty Three).

Siamese Dream is my favorite as well, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that MATIS was bad. It had a lot of high points, but I agree that Bullet with Butterfly Wings was a week spot.

Does anyone know the name of the new SP single on the radio right now? (It's techno-ish...) And apparently, it's not on the Kaleidyscope EP.

I wonder about this as well?

Have you heard it yet? It's really good in my opinion. Although, I know most fans will probably disagree. I'm one of the SP fans that REALLY liked the Zeitgeist album. I love that compilation. I was listening to it yesterday, after I caught wind of the new song. (But I never got word of what the name of the new song was?) The DJ just talked about the new tour.

Maybe I'm just imagining this because I'm not finding any mention of this anywhere??? :lol

I looked at the four tracks on the new EP and it's not one of those.

I think Mellon Collie was awesome through and through and I disagree with you on Bullet with Butterfly Wings. That song was badass! :lecture

BTW...what spot in the week was it in? :monkey3

Bullet with Butterfly Wings was overplayed on the radio, so that is probably effecting my opinion of it. Also the radio was overplaying Offspring's Gotta Get Away at the same time and every time I heard either of those songs all I could think was that they were the exact same tempo and the exact same chord arrangement in the chorus.

Also, all the raging rat in a cage stuff got a bit annoying. :dunno

But I can remember exactly where i was the first time I heard Cherub Rock! That song is truly badass! :lecture

Nice. I see they're on tour again as well. Might have to see if I can make it to their Tampa concert. I saw them during their Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness tour back in the day and it was an awesome show.
