That is great work, always wanted a 1/6 Marine but as I hear it Games-Workshop is very euh... ____ about what comes out of the license.

The scale issue would always be an issue with "Citadel" type figures . They were obviously initially designed to be less than an inch tall so a certain amount of "deformation" is to be expected . I think this is one reason why the people involved never branched out into the large(r) scale action figure market . ( Let's face it , if it was do-able it'd be a licence to print money !) Apparently , this was a real problem for the animators of the recent movie , working out how to make the armour look like it contained a human being AND move in a convincing manner was a major pain .

Yeah the armour needs to be a lot bulkier really.

ahhh yes.... GW I believe employ people just to sit on the net and report none licence GW stuff... particularly e-bay. A friend of mine writes for GW and he told be some crazy stories!!! and I mean CRAZY!!

1. Dogmal, THAT IS AMAZING.
BUT
2. how tall is he? You say he's 1/6th scale... but that looks like the head from a TTA.. and if it is, he's not 1/6th. if he's a 12 inch figure, he's closer to 1/9th or 1/10th.

Space marines stand, on average between 7 and 10 feet tall. They are HUGE, genetically altered monsters.
Not wanting to knock your work, but I know how much of a nut for scale you are, so i figured i'd share. :D

i considered trying to make one once, but couldn't ever find a good body for 1/6th scale. I was, at one point leaning towards the Diamond select ultimate quarter scale, but I think they're too big.

Yeah Cbob and I gased about the whole scale thing... We started making the armour ages ago when I was reading one on the books and once we had done some bits I realised the size issue :( I was gutted but Cbob as always made me see the positive side of it and we said ahh what the heck. Cbob made the feet like big ol seventies glam platforms so he his taller than most 1/6th I worked it out the he scaled up to about 6' 6" which is no where tall enough really.

Aye when i started making it i also thought i dont have the room for something that big :lol

Cant wait to see yours mate I know they are gonna look insane... The mad thing is how different they look with the base coat on...

another friend of mine was up for building a Dreadnought with me.....But I said NO shock horror!!!

Well just a quick hit on star wars tonight.... Body swap and paint up of Aayla Seccura.
Still can not get my head around this prosaide stuff doing me sweed in a bit but it looks ok.... well in dime light and at 100 yards

Hurry up cbob I want to see I want to see! I'm like a little kid over here lol. weird thing is I have never played the game or read the books but i use to love painting those little beauties. Was more of a D&D guy myself also painted tones of those little guys too. In fact I still have most of my D&D miniatures.

Hahah same here. I have read one book... Loved it but never played at all. Used tondraw em loads when I was a kid.... Then about 5 months ago Liam got interested in it so we bought some figures and paints and we started painting. Odd thing is I don't like painting the marines! I love painting oaks and Imperial guard... I have just made a imperial guard halftrack! Love it haaaahhhaahhhaa....
