Just read this thread from start to finish (during work hours...shush dont tell the boss!).

It took about a week but it was well worth it. The sense of community is amazing.

It's amazing how a new paint job changes everything. May I see more detail shots of the head and hands. I've got one of these... (actually two) that may need this treatment.

Hi Guys and Thanks for all the kind feedback.
Yes it was a Hasbro Ackbar joined with a SS Qui-Gon body to make a Mon Calamari Jedi. For all that want to make one: I made the feelers around his mouth with hot glue which works great. I was going to use sculpey but hot glue was much faster and they won't break-off because they flex. Then add a little paint and you are done. I've attached as per requested a few detailed pics.

Wow dh4, he really turned out well!

Brilliant idea with the hot glue, if you hadn't pointed it out I would never have known the Hasbro sculpt didn't have feelers.

That is a Sweet looking Mon Calamari Jedi. I had a similar idea for one I wanted to do Nadar from the clone wars. One day I will get to him. And I love the idea with the glue gun thats brilliant!

Hot glue is great, if you leave it a bit so it doesn't burn your fingers you can shape it, or smooth it nicely and then score into it to make marks etc. If you have a bit that needs smoothing or reworking just heat it with a lighter. I used a bit ages ago to make a missing tendron on the back of a damaged hot toys alien leg and fix the ripped chest before he got a full repaint.

Again,great job.It was the feelers added around the mouth that really threw me off.I was thinking it was a mini bust.Plus I forgot how detailed ackbar's hands were...had to dig one out of the closet & do a double check.
Back in the day when he came out,I always thought he was a little underated & was one of the 1st decent hasbros-other that the body of course.I think it was because he was the 1st alien & they put a little effort into makeing him other than just a change of clothes...i.e.head,neck,hands,& forearms

I have to say. I have recently had the pleasure talking to Mark. He is a top bloke willing to help out anybody. Im sure all of you who visit thread all ready know. Mark has so much talent its untrue, and he's getting better and better. I love all his work and Im going to continue to look on this thread. Great work from a great artist and a true gent.
