Just getting back from a midnight screening.

Personally, I thought this movie was pretty cool.Movie to me had a good flow to it and I was impressed with how this one played out. Its a bit familiar but different take on the Snow White story but it works. Graphically its really great very impressive. Stewart did fairly decent for the most part but her speech towards the end didn't inspire me but other than that I thought she did ok. Theron as the queen was great and she plays a damn good evil queen I must say. Hemsworth is just plain and simple one bad ass dude. I want to see more action movies with this dude in it because he kicks ass. The dwarves are awesome and provide the right amount of comic relief to keep things loose.

I read they're already talking about a sequel and I'd be down for seeing that.

:lecture I pretty much agree with everything you just said here! :rock :rock :rock

Saw hensworth today. Cool guy. Almost broke my hand with that handshake .

I was hoping to love this film - saw the panel at SDCC last year and at Wizardworld this year. I love Charlize and any big fantasy film I'll go half way to meet.

I didn't hate it, but it didn't get me to love it either. Charlize does a good job and in the hands of a less accomplished actress (say - Julia Roberts?) it could have gotten incredibly hammy. The performance was still over the top but fit the film. Kristen surprised me in that I believed in her having a personality - Bella has done her a great disservice - she now has to be twice as good as anyone else, just to overcome that reputation.

Hems was great, although the character was a bit under written. And just like everyone has said - we needed more of the dwarves! The director said at SDCC that he wanted this to be his Guy Ritchie film with all these great British toughguys in it. He succeeded up to a point - although, much like a Guy Ritchie film I had a problem understanding their accents at times.

But I think the main problem was the script - they obviously wanted to make into a kick-ass action fantasy movie, but the story doesn't really lend itself to that. We do understand the Queen's backstory and motivation and what Snow is supposed to do - but it doesn't really all gel for me.

I'll probably get it when the blu-ray comes out as there are some cool fantasy sequences - and who doesn't like looking at Charlize?

I thought this was pretty excellent for what it was.

Reminded me A LOT of the 80s movies like Conan, Red Sonja, etc, except the effects were actually awesome instead of giant rubber snakes or whatever.

8/10.

I have to say, if this movie was made in the 80s and it was Arnold instead of Hemsworth and I don't know, Jodie Foster instead of Stewart, everyone on this website would think it was the greatest movie ever made.

It obviously wasn't the best acted movie of the year, but it had pretty much everything any fan of fantasy movies could ask for.

It's not bad, worth seeing but not going to blow you away. It's too long--a lot of wasted time in parts that don't do anything for the story.

I also wish they would have gotten someone to do a more interesting musical score, I think trying something other than the generic epic orchestral score would have also helped the movie have more character.

As I've had time to settle, I do feel the weak point of the movie was, to some degree, the over top nature of Charlize Theron's performance. I quickly tired of her PMS moments

:lol yeah she was making people in my theater laugh.

Kristen Stewarts acting skills= look as awkward as possible and over breath.

The fairies were cool Ill take a 1:1 scale.

I have the score on my iphone and have listened to it 2-3 times already. Its pretty solid IMO.

this makes me very very curious to see it, because I bet you are right,

Saw this tonight, the wife and I both liked it. She actually loved it for the cast but we agreed that although it seemed to have scenes straight out of "Legend" and "Lord of the Rings" it was missing a certain "magic" (no pun intended) that some of the more visionary fantasy films have had.

But it was better than Willow and the Narnia movies. Some really nice twists on famous scenes from the Disney version.

And I really liked the image of:

Snow White standing over the Queen's dead body and looking at herself in the magic mirror at the end of the film.

Some great production and costume designs that would lend well to high end collectibles/premium formats. We look forward to owning it on blu-ray.

It had no sound of its own and was too subdued, it should have been more aggressive. I think a lot of movie scores have been this way lately. Used to be pretty much every movie like this had a score worth listening to, but in the last few years it's been getting less and less. Like how Transformers 2 + 3 weren't as good as 1, and Iron Man 2 wasn't as good as the first. And I can't even remember what the soundtrack sounded like to Thor, Captain America, or The Avengers. But I can remember something like X-Men First Class which was pretty unique.
