I'm also under the impression that the Attendee allotment will go fast as well for the Star Wars 12" exclusive. The toy scalpers will be out in full "force' for this one.

If i order can i get someone to pick it up or does the person who orders have to attend and pick it up?

It will but say the ES is 2k and 1900 of them are for those going to the show it will be much easier.

If you try to order an atendee version then yes the person ordering has to show up to get it.

Cheers. This is going to be a dogfight for sure.

Yup.

Probably will be around 200-300 for non-attendees I would guess.

Going to brew strong coffee for the night they go up and have all my relatives say a prayer.:D

I think the attendee allotment will sell out about as fast as the usual exclusives that are offered. I'd be VERY surprised if the allotment lasts an hour.

Yeah, I agree. I just mean that it will be easier to get than the non-attendee version.

Yeah, I'm glad I don't have to fight that. Those not going are really hard core because it will be a dog fight to get one.

It always makes me feel good to know that if I work hard to make the "extra" money to buy the Sideshow products that I love and support, that I can bask in the light of being unable to complete a set because I can't get to SDCC.

Almost makes you wonder if SSC wants you to earn even more money so you can pay a huge makeup on eBay and support the scalpers that buy so much of their product.

Sometimes it almost seems like you have to be one of those top-ten-of-one-percent who benefited from Bush's tax breaks just to participate in the SSC hobby. Case in point: Gray Hulk.

Well, they are called exclusives for a reason because not everyone is gonna have a complete set. Besides they are giving those going a shot at getting one which is more than I can say for virtually anyone else.

I do hope your joking. Well, I can assure you I don't fall into that level of Bush's tax break and I'm getting the figures I want and going to SDCC.

Didn't we have a similar discussion last year?
Yes, I understand the whole "that's why it's an exclusive" thing. It doesn't make it any more palatable to know that because I can't go to one particular show, a collection that quite a few years has gone into will be incomplete forever.
As for it being more than any one else is doing....don't care. If Majestic or SFM did it and I was collecting that series of figures, I'd feel the same.
I guess it really depends on whether the "exclusive" is a variant or a whole new figure.

We probably did. :)

What if it was just a regular exclusive that someone missed out on. Same principles if ya ask me.

Besides you got helped out last year. :p ;):monkey5

Well, then don't complain. Then maybe SS should stop trying to help out those that can't go and be just like everyone else.:peace

I'm well aware of how fortunate I was to get helped out last year. But what a pain in the ass for evry year. And I'm more worried that they'll do something stupid like release Giles there than most anything else.

I'm just teasing ya about helping. It wasn't a bother. I agree it is a pain for those that can't go and I feel bad for those that can't especially if it was Giles or someone like that. If it happens to just be a variant I don't see the big deal.

I wasn't joking per se. Perhaps I should have qualified the sometimes and almost a bit more as I have no desire to become the Che Guevara of collectors. It's just that it seems that the scalpers on eBay and SSC are a symbiotic group and to follow them with abandon demands great amounts of disposable income.

For instance, if the Han Exclusive cost as much to me (a simular percentage of my net worth) as his Hasbro action figure counterpart, I would pick up at least three because (as everyone knows) Mynocks hunt in flocks. But I don't feel comfortable paying the sort of money that eBay and its scalpers require at my present level of income. Now I know people who have that sort of money (who littereally benefited form the tax-breaks) and they would follow their instincts and turn to eBay and get exactly what they want -- it's not that big a deal to them as they aren't being excluded in any way by the limited numbers. So I stand behind what I posted, even if it was written in hyperbole.

What it comes down to is simple supply and demand. These figures are limited so those not bought buy collectors end up on ebay at higher prices more often than not. This in no way is SS fault. If there was no demand for these figures the people trying to scalp on ebay wouldnt have a wooden leg to stand on. I don't think SS should stop making limited figures just so everyone can get one at retail. If you want one at retail your just gonna have to work for it by being at the right place at the right time or knowing someone who can help ya out.

I won't hold my breath, but it would be nice if Sideshow would Revisit the Planet of the Apes with a TV series Burke and Virdon for Comic Con.:monkey5
