One cool thing about a Duel of the Fates PF display will be that it's one duel with light up blades in all the primary saber colors; blue, green, and a double does of red. Very cool.

I was wondering if SideShow was going to produce both Episode I Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to compliment Darth Maul, but I was noticing something about the base Maul is on. The base is from the Theed Generator where Qui-Gon dies and Obi-Wan goes head to head with Maul. The three of them never fight together here, so I'm thinking maybe SideShow will only give us one of the two Jedi. But then again, does the base have to be movie accurate? HELL NO! GIVE US ALL THREE!!! DUEL OF THE FATES, still the best lightsaber duel in the Saga.

Matt,

You need to some reading. Maul has plenty of backstory. It just wasn't given in the film.

Nah, I have never really cared much for the novels. I have tried reading quite a few actually, and the only ones I have actually remotely cared for were the novelizations of the films. It feels like you are going backwards that way, from film to book; as opposed to book to film.

I wasn't knocking Maul, he is a simple character - but that isn't always bad.

It's all good. I was just saying if you want to get to know more about Maul then read a couple of the novels. I'm going through them all right now currently in Labryinth Of Evil. I have to say having seen the films a gazillion times it does add to the books.

I am sure it would but I want to watch the saga as Lucas intended. I don't want to read some lackey's idea of how to get Boba Fett out of the Sarlacc pit. To me that is much different than say having an appreciation for Tolkein, and having his work actually translated to the screen.

I wouldn't call the guys writing these lackey's either for that matter. They're no Tolkien but the guys that wrote the books I'm reading I think worked with Lucas to write them to keep it cannon.

I agree Josh. :duff

Great, in the space of three pages we've moved from "why did you preorder Maul" to a discussion of the literary merits of the EU novels. And just as UndercoverToyBoy had a very good point to make!

See, Tomandshell has the actual link, but Sideshow's original PF lineup (to which they've been sticking very closely, with the sole exception of Grievous) has a C-3PO & R2-D2, a Qui-Gon Jinn, and a X-Wing Pilot Luke left to be made.

So I'm sure each of those pieces in in some stage of development -- with more to come. And since Maul's base is indeed from the place where he killed Qui-Gon (good catch) we can only hope it doesn't follow this PF (albeit in a full-bodied form):

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that. After the probe droid though I wouldn't be surprised if Qui-Gon had a sand base and Obi-Wan had one from the Gungan City. :lol

i actually LOVED the phantom menace. not because its a fantastic masterpiece of a movie. but because i remember camping out in front of the theater for 3 weeks to see it. the magic, nostalgia, and anxious feelings i had when the opening crawl came up on the screen is unmatched by any of the other episodes. ROTS and Empire are my two FAVORITE of the batch, but i will always remember the fun and exciting time i had with my best friends while camping out in front of the movie theater (no flaming on that statement!!)

Agreed. The best part of TPM was the fact that after all these years we would finally see a SW movie. The sky was the limit back then:

1. Darth Maul was a cool looking new Sith Lord
2. Nostalgia factor was high all around
3. Promise that a lot of OT aspects would finally be seen on screen

At the end, it turned out to be very differently than what most of us expected. Maul got killed off, we didn't really see much of the Clone Wars, CGI so out of control that the magic/authenticity of the original movies was not there as it should have been...you heard it all before. We did get some memorable moments including the best lightsaber duel on screen in TPM. Maul was a highlight in the saga as he gave us some real martial arts in a world full of CGI.
