Who has the better voice actor?

Snake's voice is hard to replace... but outside of the games, he sounds a bit awkward. I can't imagine that voice being used for a movie or show without sounding a bit stilted.

I see what you did there. :monkey3

In all seriousness, David Hayter is not only a LEGEND, but an incredibly nice guy in real life too. He's always eager to make a fan happy and few years back, he sent me a really long email, twice. As far as being iconic and all around awesome, David's the guy.

But then we have Kevin Conroy, the only person who could pull off how Batman should really talk like. Not to take away the amazing job other live action or voiceover artists have contributed to the character, but there's a reason why fans hail him as the quintessential Batman. If you don't know who Kevin Conroy is, you're not even a Batman fan.

Like Hayter, Kevin's also seems to be a really nice guy in real life. Everyone goes crazy meeting him in person that even Kevin used to be taken aback by all the fame. I also remember the moving podcast he did with Kevin Smith:

SModcast | Kevin Conroy: Batman Himself

So yeah, how dare you Solidus make me choose between not only my 2 favorite actors, but my 2 most favorite people on the planet as well. Shame on you!

Who said you had to choose between the two of them? :naughty

But, yeah, I totally agree with that assessment. Both of them are immensely skilled, and just awesome guys you can imagine sitting down and have a beer with. I had the great privilege of meeting Conroy several years ago, and I'll never forget it.

What's this about exchanging emails with Hayter?!! :horror

Batman for sure.

MGS is a *Hollywood wink wink* type of thing so it's not original in terms of characterizations.
Hayter was doing yet another Eastwood impression.

Kevin Conroy is THE BATMAN since 1994, and he was himself during all these years of voicing the character.

This poll is terrible :lol. I guess if there was another MGS game with Hayter being released, it would've been more close.

Yeah, there is a certain vibe with Clint Eastwood in Hayter's voice, but it fits Solid Snake so perfectly. As for Conroy, I can't fault him on anything - I think his Batman voice has actually gotten A LOT better with age.

For their role? Hayter. Just the sound of his voice you know the character. He could be saying anything.

I couldnt say the same for if i heard Conroy talking about something not batman related. He just sounds like generic stoic male of middle to older age.

Better voice actor on a whole? Dont know. Probably Conroy because he sounds so generic he could do a number of roles where as Hayter is pretty pigeon holed.

It's sorta a hard pick because we've had so many voice actors for an animated Batman, while Solid Snake only had one, unless you count teh kief for Biggu Bawse. Based on that, Conroy really shines amongst the sea, while Hayter was always a great pick period. But Conroy has had various media as Batman, from the amazing TAS, Justice League and Batman Beyond, to some animated movies, and the Arkham games (bar Origins where it was Chris Redfield in a mediocre suit). Hayter just has the games, granted he has to do a ton of dialogue for obvious reasons. I do respect Hayter for writing the first two X-men films, those are still very solid. Both of them get major respect from me for being fantastic people in real life too, and doing stuff for the fans.

I pick Conroy because of how much he's been in that I've seen since I was a child, so he's basically been a part of my life always and continues to be. This would apply to Hayter had I played MGS in the 90s, but it still wouldn't be as much Conroy.

This is still a trollish poll though, it seems like something the great lord Kojima-sama would do :lol

Someone should start a Best Batman actor poll on the movies board. I know it's been done before, but I'd love to see all the Batmen pitted against each other. For me it's always:

1) Kevin Conroy
2) Michael Keaton
3) Adam West

I'm not a fan of West, since I never watched the 66 show. For me it's:

Conroy
Keaton
Kilmer

I think Kilmer is underrated, since he's in such a Hollywood 90's version of Batman with nipples. But if you can ignore everything surrounding him, I think he did a serviceable job.

Kilmer was great, and so was Clooney for that matter. They just had crappy material to work with. With a right script, they can embody the character.

Kilmer might be a douche, but he carries the role pretty effectively IMO.

I never cared about Adam West either, 60s Batman just doesn't mean much to me.

Kilmer's all right, I think he tried to do his best...Clooney actually has a good voice for the role, but I think he's too old for Bruce Wayne.

I think Kilmer tried to emulate the role of Batman, not Bruce Wayne, from Keaton... but I think he made it his own and wasn't a copy. I liked his Bat voice too, it was deep enough that it was distinct from his regular voice... without sounding like he's got throat cancer. That's probably the only time we'll ever see Batman & Robin on screen ever again.

Batfleck is terrible IMO, he's not where near the shape he should be in since his suit is making him look bigger than he is like how Keaton was. But that was a different time in the 80s, you need to look at it in context. All these superhero films have the guys huge, anything less and it doesn't work.

I swear that used subtle features on Kevin's face for Bruce in AK.

Given how many characters are getting thrown into BvS, we may see Robin at some point. I think Kilmer and Clooney sound like Keaton a bit too, even a little like Conroy, but they stand out.

Not sure about AK, I'm still trying to get a PS4

Nobody commanded dominance with the Batvoice like Conroy. I love Keaton's version to death, since I loved the atmosphere of the film and the look of the suit... but Conroy IS the ******* Batman.

I still remember being floored when I found out that Conroy and Hamill were voicing Arkham Asylum... I'm like "this is basically a continuation of BTAS!"
