Re: Han Solo (May 25th, 2018)

I saw it several times at the Chinese theater in 1977 -- 85' x 36' 70mm screen which was huge for its time.

Cool theater. That's where SW started.

The last movie I remember seeing at Indian Hills was a special showing of The Day The Earth Stood Still ('51) attended by Patricia Neal. She complimented the theater and encouraged people to never let it be torn down.

Damn Khev that hurt to read lol

I saw SW in 77 across the street from 2 **** theaters and a strip joint lol.

My family was like just look this way son look at the SW poster.

:lol

I was 3, 6, and 9 in 1977, 80, and 83.

SW I saw in Chicago (my mom had to read the opening scroll to me and to hear her tell it I literally didn't blink for the entire two hours, lol), Empire in Michigan, Jedi in Alaska. Whatever screens my parents took me to would have looked huge to me as I have no idea what theaters those would have been or if they're even still standing, lol.

And everyone walks away with the same primary core memory, the opening shot.

I only remember my first viewing in pieces almost like snap shots of the movie.

Yep. To this day I also specifically remember the image of Han Solo up on the big screen in ST costume lifting that giant metal rod above his head to try and stop the trash compactor. That bit kind of freaked me out as I had *no* idea how they were going to get out of there, lol. I also remember being somewhat disturbed by Porkins' seemingly pointless death.

Re: Han Solo (May 25th, 2018)

I think they included Biggs and Porkins as background characters on Yavin but didn't want to over do the pilot cameos in the actual battle so only Red and Gold Leader got face time.

So we can just assume that Biggs and Porkins were flying above Scarif if we want.

Re: Han Solo (May 25th, 2018)

Lucas had planned to release them all in upgraded 3-D at one time not long ago, right? That plan failed after TPM. Why the heck would you start with TPM? Anyway, not shocking it didn't pan out.

Unlikely Disney will revive it. Do they ever revive their old classics? I think they just put everything in "the vault"... which is the threat they used to use to con kids into re-buying their VHS tapes in the 90's before "they're gone forever"...

Disney did a anniversary rerelease of Fantasia back in the 90's, and I think before home video was a thing, they used to rerelease The classic stuff every so often.

Always seemed mean that his name was Porkins considering his build. But Then you have Masturbator I mean Master Vader, Hand Solo and Princess Lay you

Re: Han Solo (May 25th, 2018)

I don't think any SW films are in danger of going to "The Vault". LFL is like Pixar and Marvel. Disney owned but enjoy a fair amount of independence. No Pixar or Marvel films have gone to The Vault.

Re: Han Solo (May 25th, 2018)

"The Vault" awaits them. "The Vault" awaits all.

Disney is allowing the little people to run the day-to-day while they siphon the money. One day the little people will be no more. One day Star Wars will simply be Disney to a whole generation. Lucas will be forgotten. It will be Disney. History is rewritten. Comics will fade. Marvel will be forgotten. Disney made Iron Man.

Re: Han Solo (May 25th, 2018)

The PT and Hasbro pretty much killing off the 3.75 line drastically reduced my Star Wars fandom.

I think I saw it posted somewhere that Hasbro has released 78 *different* carded Vaders. 78! That and the fact that their "super-articulated" figures still can't be put into a natural sitting position like basic GI Joes could do back in 1982.

I'd rather have a Saw Guerrera movie than a Han Solo film, just throwing that out there.

I'd probably prefer just about anything to a Young Han Solo movie but honestly other than maybe having a *decent* Boba Fett movie I can't even think of a stand-alone film announcement that would get me excited at this point.
