Likewise, Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 broke pre-order records and received universal praise from critics regarding its construction, so how could it be a failure? It was a failure because of what happened AFTER people purchased it. The Last Jedi is the cell phone fire of the Star Wars franchise.

This TLJ quote is just about the greatest thing ever.

“Mod” friends. :lol

The last 2 mods i’ve interacted with, who gave me plenty of infractions and even a few temp bans myself, aren’t even mods anymore. they stepped down after that. :lol

One, because he was a nimwitt and doesn’t know how to complete sentences so dave’s lazy *** had to step in, the other for telling him to go **** himself, and he couldn’t handle the pressure. :lol “mod friends” your last ban was all on you bud.

good morning

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Not in any stores, but there have been a few leaked Lego sets.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

That is indeed very concerning.
I can't live my life without new Star Wars merch every half a year... I NEED IT NOW!!!

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Hasbro toys should be hitting ( and warming) shelves next month...

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

TLJ thread STILL closed?

Subtle, very subtle.:lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Disney must really be cracking down on all sites with negative things to say. They're sniffing out all the internet sites, and subtly "suggesting" they revoke the privileges of those not complying with the greatest SW movie ever made..... They want to keep this whole thing quiet like it never happened... They want to Hamillize (silence) everyone.

Either that or the mods must really love the movie and took great offense to the "haters".

GO Solo!!! :yess:

Well, you can't silence the Wall Street Journal, and lessons for Disney to be learned for SOLO...

'In the U.S. and Canada, “The Last Jedi” opened to $220 million... it looked like another “Star Wars” movie would have a long, healthy run. But by mid-January, it was grossing less than half as much each day as “The Force Awakens” at the same time two years ago and less even than 2016’s spinoff “Rogue One,” which didn’t feature iconic characters in major roles and opened to $155 million'.

'... single-screen cinemas like Rodney Miller’s Elder Theatre of Jackson Center, Ohio, population 1,400, screenings were nearly empty later in the run. “The first week was good, the second week was pretty decent, and the third and fourth weeks were disasters,” he said. The new film’s take on Star Wars mythology, in ways a rebuke to the nostalgia pervasive in “The Force Awakens,” alienated some hard-core fans who criticized “The Last Jedi” online and didn’t return for multiple viewings as they have for prior installments.'

Uh oh, be careful. I posted a link to a Wall Street Journal article yesterday. I was then told it was inappropriate since this was the "Solo" thread and it should've been posted in the TLJ thread... :lol

The article is all about what it means for the SW franchise, and references SOLO:

'...for a property as valued as “Star Wars,” any sign audiences are losing faith is concerning and could prove costly down the road if the trend continues.'

'If audiences need a break from “Star Wars,” they won’t get one this year. A spinoff focused on a young Han Solo opens Memorial Day weekend.'

I can hear those two now:

Fake news.

Yeah, a billion three is a total failure. Right. Loser.

Facts are facts and the fact is The Last Jedi was a disappointment for the majority. Time will make this much more clear.

8 years ago "Alice in Wonderland" made over a billion dollars too and yet most people don't care for that movie either. But it has this in common with TLJ: it got butts in seats.

As to Solo -- I do believe there is a bit of Star Wars burn-out... just like with CBMs in general. Fewer are wowed; fewer see the movie multiple times -- which is absolutely necessary for those huge numbers.

If Solo is a great movie, it will do well. If it isn't, it will show its colors even quicker then TLJ.

Disney will be watching Solo very closely: is it burn-out... or is it a problem with their storytelling?

I think it would be a great tribute to the film -- and this board -- to leave it locked forever like the Disney vault.
