The tone looks good.....

But we have not seen much...

It looks interesting, but then so did TLJ when I saw that trailer. I'll wait until the reviews come in before deciding to rent it in 6 months from Redbox for $2.

People on youtube that aren't professionals cut rom-coms to look like horrors for ****s and giggles, <3 that Luc-Dis can still get people to lap up their previews, but... meh.

None of this made any sense to me... Can anyone translate, please? I'm curious.

Save all those quotes of peoples excitement to compare to what they say after release. Anyone can make a good trailer. Tiny enough words for you? :lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

That’s a problem that plagues the industry as a whole. Sometimes a trailer, or a string of them, ends up revealing the best bits a film has to offer. Other times, the trailer is simply better than the film itself. :lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

The trailer (usually) being better than the movie is a thing I've been aware of...

....my entire life.

Nothing new.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

It’s become more frequent at some point over the last 17 years though.

Styles change, but I've always felt that way. Tell me you didnt feel let down by lots of movies for not being as good as the trailer when you were a kid.

Not hard to condense even the worst movie into something great that only runs 90 seconds.

Edit - then again, condensing BVS to trailer length didn't help it.

Trailers have done this for decades and decades. I remember complaining about this as a little kid -- they showed the whole movie!

Usually when a movie's bad or "meh" they will show the best scenes just to get you in. There's no refunds for not liking a movie. If a movie's great, and they know it, they don't have to put the great scenes in.

Not very often no. I mean, when I saw Batman Forever, I loved it. Was it as good as my first ever theatrical experience, Batman ‘89? No. Do I like it now? Not entirely. It’s a step above Batman and Robin and that’s it. The only reason I watch it anymore is for Nicole Kidman and maybe Michael Gough?

Ugh, don’t get me started on the BvS trailers. Show the entire movie, why don’t you?! That film is the reason I am hesitant to indulge in all of the trailers anymore. I watch a few, teasers included, and then I’m done.

I didn’t really begin to take note of it until... King Kong, perhaps? Before that, it happened once in a blue moon with a movie I followed closely enough to watch all the trailers in glorious anticipation. :thud:
