Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Every time I see a succession of lol smiley postings I think of Hammond and Gennaro chuckling to eachother over the 'coupon day' joke in Jurassic Park - there should be a youtube video of just that little bit.

A bright spot in yet another grim Star Wars movie thread.

:lol

Solo is currently sitting at 70% with critics, with a 6.4 average score.

For what it's worth, Jeremy Jahns (who is a pretty big Star Wars fan) said the best part of the movie is the "remember THIS about Han Solo from the original trilogy?" moments so it can hardly stand on it's own and he rated it the same at Attack of the Clones.

Boring with a capital B.

You know many said this about the first 2 acts of RO that if it wasn’t for the 3rd act that RO was pretty boring.

I never subscribed to that because I connected with Jyn, Cassian and Krennic plus there was enough action peppered throughout then next thing you know the bombastic 3rd act arrives.

It looks like Solo might be following the same structure so hopefully I connect with the characters and the 3rd act delivers the goods

Yeah, I liked all of RO. Don't think it was boring at all. I liked everything but the blob scene was a little unnecessary. But still, nothing in that movie took me away or made me look at my watch.

He enjoyed TLJ more.

Yeah, I remember that he kinda liked it.

Disney gave all the reviewers the OK in advance to trash Solo... :wink1:

In no way shape or form could I EVER like Solo less than TLJ...... Impossible. That thought alone is "Inconveivable!!" :)

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Nah they were much more positive than JJ was.

Harloff said this:

TLJ is a better made film

Solo is a better SW movie

Its a shame we're not hearing that its great.

Mediocre... after IW... no good.

I'm tired of movies where the best thing you can say is: it had some things I liked in it.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I generally take YouTube reviews with a huge grain of salt, but if someone like Jahns didn't love it then it must be truly mediocre (no surprise there of course).

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Still can't believe they actually play this over the end credits.

I curious enough to see what he means by “Better SW movie” than TLJ because TLJ has real Luke and Leia while Solo has fake Han and Lando so if Solo is a better SW “experience” then that’s at least worth seeing it once.

But my gut tells me that it won’t be as good as RO.

Jahns even compares it to Attack of the Clones! That really is not good!
