Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Wasn't Han originally working for the Empire as an officer/young cadet. His rescue of Chewbacca sent him on the run.

Yup, used to be anyway.

You can't do a CG Leia in Carrie Fisher's 19 year-old likeness but then have a different actor play Han Solo in the same era. You just can't.

As long as Han Solo is limited to one line in the final 10 seconds, I agree.

But regardless are you telling me that you can really accept anyone but Harrison, Mark, and Carrie as Han, Luke and Leia? As a legit prequel to the original Star Wars? I can't. Just call it a reboot. So once again I'll be expressing my displeasure with Disney's decision by voting with my dollars and skipping the first showing of the day and catching it full price later in the evening. :monkey1

It's sad that I know that this screenshot is from the trailer.

RO showed me that a Star Wars reboot is not out of the question. In fact, it might even be good. Cut a lot of baggage loose.

Someday, Disney WILL reboot Star Wars... with a fresh young mixed-race Disney cast from their cable shows... and maybe even a laugh track.

My mind was made mighty by shows such as Bewitched and Doctor Who.

I can accept it... That doesn't necessarily translate to will I like it, but I can get over it and it won't affect my opinion on whether it's a good movie or not.

On that we agree. If the Han movie turns out awesome then it can just be another movie that I really enjoy but don't consider "canon" (along with Alien 3 and TFA.)

It's funny that you post that pic because Return of the Jedi is literally one of the most spoiled movies I've ever seen in my life. I was so ravenously hungry to know how the story ended after waiting three years since Empire that when one of my friends saw it before me I literally said, "tell me everything, tell me absolutely everything!!!" And then he proceeded to literally spell out the movie scene by scene. Of course years later it hit me that "what the hell was I thinking" but honestly at the time as a kid those movies might as well have been real world events where I just wanted any info regardless of how it was presented.

Kind of like if Russians invade America and someone knows something you don't go "well I'll wait for full coverage on the news tonight" no you're like "tell me, tell me what's going on!" And at the time hearing about it was almost as exciting as seeing it. Not ready for the burden of avoiding spoilers was my 9 year old mind...

But thank God that didn't happen with SW or Empire and I got to see those movies cold. Phew.

What was his description of Vader's unmaking like, if you remember?
