Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Equating borrowing from a library with streaming a movie that's still in theaters? You know that's not the same.

Let me put it to you this way, whatever Disney content is on YouTube, is there because Disney doesn't care. If they cared, they would have a storm of 1,000 lawyers descending on YouTube in minutes. Trust me, nothing gets by them that pops up on a mainstream site.

That’s never what I was even talking about. :lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

my predictions of this movie is that it was going to do 350 million total world wide.

Are you guys telling me this wont even make 300 million? ................ it is currently sitting at 210 million.....

at this point, can it make another 100 million more?

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I saw this today and ya know....I liked it. The only thing that really made me roll my eyes was the Han Solo name part...Unnecessary, I thought. But that Mud trooper scene was fantastic! I want to see more of that style in Star Wars. Chewie was also good, was sort of wrapped up in the movie, so I didn't expect him to be "the beast" but damn if I didn't enjoy that scene.

I walked out happier than when I saw TLJ so...I guess it's a success in that regard.

I hear it's doing poorly so back to business as usual. Oh well.

Initial production costs of Lord and Miller 250 Million, Ron Howard re-shoots and production cost unknown, marketing twice as much. Estimated guess of film production plus marketing 500 million.

Subtract that from worldwide box office and you got a angry mouse...

jye and khev told me that money is of no matter to disney, this movie could have made 20 dollars globally and disney doesnt care
disney makes so much money with marvel that flops dont matter anymore

thats why next year the sequels to TRON Legacy, Jhon Carter AND Tomorrowland will start filming for a 2020 release.\

because disney just DOES NOT CARE about flops anymore.

it doesnt matter how much money a movie loses anymore. Marvel is SINGLE HANDEDLY carrying the ENTIRE Studio on their back, disney can get 10 more flops from now on and it wouldn't be hurt them at all...

disney is Bullet proof now my son. they dont even need marketing from now on. movies can just go in theaters without a single trailer and flop and disney will still be golden.

they can lose on ticket sales
they can lose big on toy sales
they can lose on blu ray sales

Disney is still on TOP. THE number one studio in the world thanks to marvel.

Yeah, that's why they cost as much as Netflix and will move all their TV products to their own newly opened streaming service... :lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

So I've read this isn't doing so well.
I haven't seen it, and don't really plan on going to the movies for this. What's the consensus here?

Liked TFA. Loved RO. Hated TLJ. LOVED Solo. This movie is total Star Wars pulp. Immersed in the spirit of the galaxy again. Great locales. Mimban was awesome. Train heist was where the movie finally found some light after being so dark. Interactions with Chewie and Han were great. Some good side characters who are mortal adds some depth to the story (even though you know Han, Chewie and Lando must live you cannot hold that against this movie). I wasn't really bothered by the Solo name thing although I get that I should be. Movie has some faults but nowhere near the cringe of the last entry.

Saw it twice opening weekend and wanted to go again this weekend but am not going to make it. Will go mid week.

Side note: picked up the Art Of Solo book. Some amazing evolutions of the characters and story.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

What about Lone Ranger? I'm still waiting for my HT John Reid.

Solo is a western flop of LR proportions.

let me google it I am SURE Disney will be doing the Lone Ranger sequel. after all they DO NOT care about box office results!

thank you for reminding me.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Don't even pay to rent it. Watch it online for free if you must. Stop giving these pieces of dung even one red cent.

correct

disney doesnt need it

so it is okay to watch it online for free. everyone is ok to do it. marvel pays for you to watch this for free, thats how it works.

if you paid to see infinity wars you deserve to not pay to see this. disney wont hurt from it

It'll cross $200m domestic, so yeah, this will land somewhere between mid 300's to low 400's worldwide. It's too early to be more accurate than that - fan repeat business and international holds are still up in the air.

Two months ago who'd have believed that A Quiet Place - with a budget of under $20m - would end up making only $30m less than Solo, and exceed Ready Player One by an easy $50m domestically? :horror

Yeah AQP is definately a tremendous success.

Low budget horror has always been Hollywood’s not so secret secret weapon.

But AQP was like BP for me way too much hype that ultimately didn’t deliver on the promoted hype

Solo > BP/AQP/RPO

Sorry it just is.

too bad a quiet place or ready player one didnt have an annoying activist robot or a smooth pansexual character :dunno
that would have push it over to greatness

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

You know its possible the majority of people just cant go see 3 big summer films anymore...

Regardless of what the government says the economy is in shambles for the lowers class....

Rising gas prices are gonna hurt tickets sales this summer also...

I am not worried about I2 but Jurassic world 2?

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Solo beat Rogue One for me. I think RO had beautiful designs and many other positive features, but I just don't care about Jyn or Cassian. They were the most dull characters in their own movie, which kept me from getting too invested in what was happening throughout.
