They’re going to have to put an exclusive non-Internet released early MCU X-Men trailer in front of episode 9 for people to go see that movie :lol

Hell even though i’m kidding Disney is NOT going to have a repeat of Solo’s box office so that might just happen.

I think Ep. 9 will be a Box-Office juggernaut. Everybody will go to see the last chapter of the Skywalker saga.

LFL really has it's work cut out for it to properly bill it as the "last chapter of the Skywalker saga" since I'm sure a large portion of the audience already considers the Skywalker Saga over after Luke died. They'll probably need to show lots of Ghost Luke/unused TFA Leia footage in the trailers to make it clear that there is still story left to be told.

While I don’t hate the ST it’s biggest downfall from day one will remain the inadequate explanation given to the 32 year gap.

Yay ROTJ victory celebration.....pause.....wait wut.

I just don’t see it being able to recover from that.

If Nolan, a much more competent filmmaker than JJ, was not able to pull off an 8 year gap from TDK to TDKR what made JJ think he could pull off a 32 gap explanation in a 1 minute exposition opening crawl.

Yup. And all the people “boycotting” will see exactly how much their opinions mattered.

SW is beyond being a good or bad single film. Its a film event and people will go.

Yes, I like to think Solo failed on its own merits (or lack thereof). Blaming a TLJ boycott deflects attention from its own shortcomings.

I dunno if it failed because of the film itself. I do think it was alot of franchise fatigue combined with a general lack of interest from the regular public for any SW film that branches out from the Skywalker saga.

RO was a hit due to timing basically. I think if you switched Solo and RO in the magic of time travel , you would have seen Solo do RO numbers and vice versa.

Most people are just in vested in SW lile we are here.

Honestly most average movie goers can barely follow the time lines of these films......

Honestly, I think Solo might be my least favorite, it's mainly because the story doesn't matter (it's a story no one cared to know) and it's also the least visually interesting film of the series (I'd also say with the worst soundtrack)
Especially with the visuals, almost everything is overcast desaturated and gray and it doesn't have good image composition. Rogue One doesn't have good characters but it has an interesting story and some of the best visuals from the series.

I don't know.... Me personally, I wouldn't have seen it in theaters either way. Unlike Rogue One, it never felt like it would connect to the main story in any significant way. Also, the Rogue One trailers made it seem like an epic war film when I first saw it. Solo never really piqued my interest.

I think thats exactly what I was saying. And if it cant rouse fans....how can it be expected to rouse the laymen?

So you have not seen it still?

No I haven't. It was also at a very crowded time for me being so close to Avengers and Jurassic World. I eventually went and saw JW instead with my son. It didn't sell well here I guess since it was pulled out of theaters rather quickly.

I do intend to see it eventually either on Netflix or when it comes out in one of our cable movie channels. Another reason why I wasn't (am not) in a hurry to watch it is because it's a prequel, so it isn't really necessary for the current Star Wars trilogy. So yeah I can probably wait all the way until Episode IX is almost out before I watch it.

Now that we know the Favreau 10 episode series takes place on Mandalore soon after the events of ROTJ I wonder if the Obi-Wan movie will now be folded into this series or will there still be a stand alone Obi-Wan and Fett movies.

After Solo's box office disaster I think Disney will change their strategy- no stand alone Obi Wan or Fett movie- rather a new SW trilogy with these characters as leads with other iconic characters mixed in- hence no titles like "KENOBI A Star Wars Story"

Wait you're wondering if Favreau will have the ghost of Obi-Wan harrassing a bunch of Mandalorians after the events of ROTJ? Wut? lol

I still haven't seen this and am not particularly thrilled to, but I will at some point. Definitely glad though I didn't spend money on it.
