This is all reminding me again of the cringe-worthy scene of Leia flying in space. Rian should have had that be the death of the character, but no.
As far as I'm concerned the prequels *have* been made by other filmmakers (RO and Solo) lol.
We've said it before but what a bummer that the one character they kept alive in the movies died in real life so now they have to awkwardly write her out too. They're lucky there was such a thing as force ghosts so at least Luke can come back in some capacity.

Why do Jedi even need spaceships just fly thru space lol

I'm forced to agree with the criticism about how dark it often is, like AvP:R meaning of darkness. But otherwise I disagree with Honest Trailers' dismissive tone towards it.
I just picked up solo on 4k hope to watch it this weekend. I'm glad its nothing like TLJ, that movie nearly killed my love of the star wars franchise. I would never miss a star wars movie in the theaters before TLJ, solo was a casualty of war. It was the first star wars movie i didnt see on the big screen
So I go to Best Buy to look at new tvs and pick up "Solo"... and I stand there, looking at Solo's 4k box, looking at the characters on the cover, and thinking about the movie... and the interest just drained out of me. I couldn't believe it. No on a Star Wars movie.
I ended up getting "The Matrix" in 4k instead (for a sweet $14.99).
Watching Solo at home on standard blu-ray yesterday I was taken aback by how visually dark it was was for so much of the film. I saw it four times in the theater (once in 15/70 IMAX, twice in Dolby Vision, and once in a generic Marcus theater) and only the Marcus theater looked dark to me so I assumed it came down to proper theater calibration. But the blu-ray is definitely on the dark side (no pun intended.)
I figured it'd clear up once they went left Corellia and Mimban but then even during shots in relatively "bright" areas like the lounge on Dryden Vos' ship and the Falcon itself it often seemed like the characters were somehow always in a bit of a shadow. I'm curious as to how the 4K looks and whether it will better match my high end theatrical viewings since the brightness contrast will be state of the art.
The blu-ray is nowhere near AVP:R or Godzilla 2014 levels of darkness (you can always see what's actually happening in Solo) but the brightness level was still low enough to be noticeable through a good portion of the film.
When I get home i’ll compare the HD/4K I haven’t had time for my first home viewing yet my wife wanted to watch Hereditary lastnight which btw freaked her the hell out.
Nothing is as dark as AvP-R.
