Who makes those faux VHS covers? :lol

Hard to believe there are now tons of movies that have never seen the light of day in blurry VHS goodness, nor have box art...

Like every single Marvel movie (22?)

I had put LOTR trilogy and Pirates movies but then I found a cover. Is it real? When did VHS die exactly?

EDIT: Google: The final nail in the VHS coffin came in 2oo6, when A History Of Violence became the final major Hollywood movie was released in the format.

For Star Wars AOTC was the last VHS release in the States, ROTS was DVD only domestically but was on VHS in Europe I believe.

Last Star Wars film to be released on Laserdisc was The Phantom Menace in Japan.

I had the greatest VHS collection ever... in 1995. :lol

It started to fall apart after that. I did keep a handful of what I thought were the best box art covers though when I finally got rid of all my VHS's for like a $1 each in 2008.

I never had much of a DVD collection, but my Blu Ray is coming along nicely, just in time to be dashed by 4K. I need 'cloud movies' that never need replacing.

I only have 2 4K movies... Infinity Wars... and tomorrow, Solo.

Remember having to rewind the video after you watched it.

:lol yes.... and waiting for that "clunk" sound so you know the magnetic images are safe and sound.

'member 4 heads? 'member EP mode vs LP mode?

Let's go farther back. Anyone here remember the Z Channel?

Oh man.....4 heads were better then two and EP was best....

But then Again I remember beta...

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

EP was awesome in the fact that you could get a trilogy of movies on 1 tape if you had one that could play for 8 hours. The old days.

It’s funny how when you’re between 10-15 how much discovering nudity and horror movies is such an important part of your existence lol

The dynamic i’m interested in is if:

A. You’re that age and have parents who are diehard geeks into all cinema.

or

B. You’re that age and you have NON geek parents who are NOT into ANY cinema.

How that plays out.

I remember lingering on any nudity at all back in the 80’s. Jamie Lee Curtis in Trading places, Sylvia Kirstle in Private Lessons, Heavy Metal, and don’t get me started with movies like Porky’s! I also remember fiddling with my tv to catch that late night cable channel where they showed adult movies after 11. The 80’s my formative years.

I used to go through the cable guide (remember that archaic medieval way of looking to see when shows were on?) to look up all the movies listed with N (nudity) and make a list. And then I'd try to watch them quietly in my basement...

The things we horny kids had to go through in the olden days before the Internet....:rotfl

Kids today have it easy and are SO spoiled...

And who wanted to rewind tapes in their VCR?? Later on us smart ones had a separate Video Tape Rewinder... One of mine was even in the shape of a car. :)

And I had 2 black boxes for cable. The 1st one had to be swapped each time or it scrambled regular channels. The later deluxe one had a switch... :yess:

I remember sneakjng a peak at my dad’s Playboys/Hustler :lol

Magazines lol

My dad hid them in a portfolio folder that was sent by a company he had some stock in (remember those? When the companies actually sent you their financials for the year in an ACTUAL portfolio?), which he kept in his filing cabinet among all his other portfolios. I'll never forget the morning in 8th grade when he left it sitting on his desk by mistake, closed, no evidence of anything odd inside. I was waiting for my mom to take me to school and was just messing around in his office when I opened it. Felt like I had struck oil lol. I don't know if he ever knew if I knew about them, but they definitely occupied my time for years!
