Modern brainwashing turning the rebels into the bad guys......and the guy who blows up planets with millions of people against him the hero...::my god what's happening in this world....
And yeah more Trade Disputes in Star Wars, maybe a whole film of the senate debates....
Oh and a Boba Fett film would be awful, most overrated fanboy character in film history......
I would rather see a film about the Rancor Keeper than BF....

I think in this case it is important to remember that the Empire and The Dark Side are completely separate things. Most of the Empire are just soldiers and government officials providing order with absolutely no knowledge that only two of the people in charge of the government are dark side users.
And we never really saw any kind of example in the OT as to why life under the Empire was really all that bad unless you were a rebel or fugitive Jedi. The only planet we saw in both trilogies was Tatooine and things looked pretty much exactly the same during the Empire as before it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not really saying that the Empire is a good thing, but rather criticizing the film's job of showing us why life for the average citizen without the empire would be so much better than life under it.
Why exactly? We are told living under the empire is such a horrible thing, but never really provided much evidence as to why that is, or why the whole entire government system needs to go.
Under Vader's orders.
Once again, the action of a government leader rather than a statement about the entire government itself.

I think that they didn't need to show anything.......not in the 70's. Vietnam the Cold War and even WWII was still fresh enough in people's minds to know they did not want to live under and all powerful controlling government.....
And Tarkin ......he blew up Alderaan......he is about as Imperial as you get

Remember that the Empire was basically an allegory for Nazi. Movie goers back then made that connection immediately.
Also remember the speech by Tarkin about abolishing the senate and powers are now given to the local Moffs which is very feudal like.
I also recall that Sandtroopers where going around harassing citizens at Mos Eisley in ANH.
ANH did enough to lay down the groundwork that the Empire is evil.

Depends on your point of view as Obi Wan said. I think Indy was the good guy. Nazis would have thought the opposite especially the German mechanic who saw the propeller up close

So call me crazy right, but how do the Jedi and Sith work? Jedi trick people against their will, while the sith use force lighting...
Luke in Return of the Jedi could have avoided all the deaths with force lighting.
Then there is the whole honesty thing, the Jedi will lie to you while the sith are just plain honest. Kenobi hid the truth from Luke, while Vader in Empire strikes back, decides to prepare the carbonite freezing freezer, lures him away from might accidentally kill him, then subdues him, forgives him, gives him an honest truth, and then offers him a job. While the Jedi where in power they were seriously trying to run the galactic republic behind the scenes while the sith where Hey we pretty much awesome, we in charge now.
Lets not forget how innovative and creative the sith weapons can be when we talk about darth maul, but lets face it, war is hell, where human cruelty knows no floor, even then the destruction of Aldeeran was based on Tarkin, since he never had room for any superstitious nonsense. Then the rebels blow up two death stars and who knows how many thousands of lives where lost and this is where explicit guilt is debatable here.
But the dark side is good. The dark side is stronger. And it has been all along. Search your feelings. You know it to be true. Lol

Well if you take Hitler out of the equation then all the Nazis were just innocent soldiers following orders. They even provided jobs to all those laborers in Egypt. Whereas Indy was a thief and a liar and even though he knew that if you closed your eyes the Ark wouldn't kill you he only told Marion and did nothing to save anyone else.
