You don't believe me...?

If I could get the same grainy film look in that second pic it would be very hard to tell the difference at all. Every wrinkle is there. Even the lines on his face.

Yep, they did a great job making that actor look like the figure. :D

Excellent comparison shot.

This is a great idea and a team of some great talents. very well done. This may have been mentioned but the only thing i would change would be the body. The dragon bodies look way to thin and cheap, specially in the arms. I would go for more of a Hot Toys body for a more realistic bulked up look. Other then that this one rocks!

I love how even the expression of Mola Ram was captured perfectly... he looks like he'd rip out your heart just as soon look at ya :lol

I am truly amazed at this prototype. Of course, it'll never look like that once the assembly line painters in China get through with it. ;) Nice not to have to say that for once.

I'm really cutting back on a lot of stuff, but depending on the price I would definitely consider getting one of these, and I'm not really even that big of a fan of the character. It's that good.

I have to agree that I really dig that these will be for sale rather than for "preorder". Paying upfront is a huge deterrent to buying customs.

Yeah, it's too bad we ALL aren't rolling in dough and supplies... would be nice to do a run of figures and have them done and ready to ship upon payment.

That's why I am getting out of this profession. :lol

Well. I don't think you have to be exactly rolling in dough to do this this way, you just make choices like passing on the Indy KOTS PF and using that cash for supplies, then when you're finished with the product you sell it and make profit, then you use the profits to buy that PF and more supplies for the next product.

I so wish I had a skill that was marketable as a personal business, especially one in a hobby or field I loved.

It also involves a certain amount of risk, since you have to be sure that there will be people willing to pay X amount of money for your customs. If you misjudge demand, you could get stuck with figures that people don't want. (Not that it would be a problem in this case.)

Well, that would work if someone KNEW for a fact that their figure would sell. You can't make 10 figures of something only to find out that only 3 people wanted one. Then you LOSE money.

And in my position, I can't afford to lose anything over $20. If I do, I could lose my car or have my phone shut off. :lol

thats true, its got to sell. I think threads like this to see interest are a great idea and I guess you have to hope people who say they'll buy really will.

That's half the problem. Collectors have so much choice. Then they overcommit. Then they cancel pre-orders, change their mind or don't find the subject matter as exciting. The fad of the day is only current till the next blockbuster comes out.

:lecture

Yep. One can never tell if anything will sell. Or if half of those who say they will commit will actually commit. The days of custom figures made to order are dying, IMO.

Not only is it getting harder to compete with the companies, but it's harder to produce fast enough to stay afloat. Usually the fad dies before you are done with a figure and you lose. Or you get out a proto, but before you can put out anything more, the fad dies. The mob is fickle afterall....

I should have gone into business making gun racks. :lol

yeah.. when it comes to custom work I have just seen too many customisers get raked through the mud for taking money up front, but not delivering for months..and months... just a really bad idea.. and really unfair for the consumer... I personally cannot justify taking someone's money today if I know I can't turn around and deliver right away.. if I can't fill an order and have it in the mail within ten days of getting payment.. I just don't take the order.. but then I do my custom work only as a means to fund my hobby.. it doesn't pay my cable bill etc... I think as long as the terms are stated up front though.. if, for instance, a project such as this could have it clearly stated that the figures will ship within "X" weeks from receipt of payment, then it would be unquestionably fair because the customer knows what they are buying into and there won't be a slew of "hey when are you mailing the custom pieces ? Did you get my PM ? I paid two months ago and haven't gotten any updates"... etc etc... that kind of thing just makes others reluctant to order... all that aside.. this is a beautiful piece and I sincerely hope it takes off as I would love to see more projects come out of this team of talents... my main interest thus far is if there will be an opportunity to purchase unpainted sculpts.. I would love to get ahold of the head and headdress to paint myself.. I saw a few others ask the same question.. any info on that ?

Sorry, No unpainted sculpts will be offered of this guy.

And thanks to everyone for the complements on the sculpt, I appreciate it!
I’m grateful Les and Ryan thought I was worthy to join the team, it was fun.

Dare I say that this is a 'Hot Toys Quality' figure? ;)

I am blown away by this guy and I really hope I get a shot at owning one. B.M.W. rocked the ^^^^ putting him together! :rock
