I liked the early spawn comics. Like DA said, haven't read or bought anything Mcf has done since the mid 90's, so this isn't really news to me either.

Well to be fair, Todd revolutionized the action figure industry. But He should go back to drawing comics and stop suing everybody.

I loved the 3D poster too, they had in the works,Platoon,Rambo but decided to cancel. Damn you TMF.

THIS was supposed to come out,but never did.

Yeah, this is still one of my favorite figures ever...

which one is this? a figure or a statue?

It's considered a figure, but it's basically a plastic statue. McFarlane started taking all the articulation out of his figures after awhile.

My favorite line was and will always be the viking ones. They were awesome.

McFarlane was to me back then what hottoys were to alot of people now...
They were at the top once but chashed just like that...

Personally, I never liked Todds drawing style. The hands were Gremlin-ish and the had elvish feet... more like Alladin shoes.
I prefer Greg Cappulo (dont kill me!)

and their Halo line... TOO SMALL!!! not even 6 inches!

Give it up Todd!!! Go pack up and go home while you still can!!!

*unless theres a Spawn 2...which I doubt will happen if he keeps blaming everybody for his faliures...

My first collectible was McFarlanes 6" Scar Predator. At that time i thought it was the coolest thing ever!

The only McFarlane figure i still own is 12" Scar, looks pretty cool next to Hot Toys ones.

IMHO . . . McFarlane is done/tapped out creatively . . . and probably commercially. His outside interests (apart from comic books and toys) such as his obsession with home run baseballs and his embittered legal problems with a professional sports player that sued him over naming/defamation very likely stopped any momentum. Funny though . . . with McFarlane being one of the original Image Comics founders . . . how many of them nowadays command/retain the same level of power and respect they once had creatively and professionally. For a time, McFarlane was the most commercially successful out of the group.

McFarlane was very innovative and cutting edge at one time, but rather than expand and build upon their success they seemed to focus instead on turning out more of the same.

I think the last thing I bought from them was Captain Caveman as funny gift for my wife, and even that (while well sculpted) had some of the sloppiest paint apps I'd seen in a long time.

I always got the feeling he wanted to be some kind of rock star, that he liked fame a lot. I think that sort of took his focus away from the creative aspect of the comics and toys. I don't know...

The animated series Spawn (Spawn X) has the same problem too...

Some very bad business decisions there, one of which is alienating your core audience. I used to frequent the Spawn message boards, but I barely visit anymore. Sad really.
