Rumors said that the TIE v Jyn scene was:

Jyn walks to the terminal, a Tie fly from below ready to shot her, but an X-Wing shot the Tie first before it fire at Jyn,
because the scene felt very similar to the AT ACT scene before, they decided to cut it

what makes me curious is the scene where Jyn, Cassian, and K2 running at the beach, that also entirely cut

I hope not.

I think we will get Cassian, he fits more the Finn role. Bodie is more the Poe role in this film.

Jyn - Rey
Cassian - Finn
Bodie - Poe
Blaze - Chewie
Vader - Kylo
Krennic - Hux
Tarkin - Snoke
Donnie - Harrison two I have difficulty lining up but pretty standard affair IMO.

Well they clearly survived whatever happened on the tower and escaped with the plans in order to be on the beach. Perhaps they lived at the end, originally. Or at least a "survivor" ending was filmed to have that option if the test audiences refused to accept Jyn's death. :dunno

at least there is a plan to make Jyn survived in the end, because Felicity Jones was signed to do one more film

but the film has already got a dramatic impact with the current ending and we can feel how hard it is for the Rebel Alliance to fight the Empire

I was thinking she might be in the Han Solo movie before she is taken prisoner.

The beach run thing went directly straight to the game, I think most cut scenarios went to the Battlefront game instead.

You can't say something like that and not post a pic!

I think I've read somewhere that there's a price tag on that AT-ACT.

But it still can't beat this!

Gotta say, even though I know it's a slightly different model, I'm still not crazy about the idea of spoiling the Walker's big entrance in ESB the way the movie does.

Isn't that the inevitable byproduct of most prequels though? I mean we got a new Vader entrance now, and a new ATAT one.

Episode III was our new Vader enterance, and it sucked. RO Vader was the Vader we needed in ROTS.

While no one can take that memory away from you, I doubt any "new" fans will have that awe you had in 1980 when the Walker's first appeared.

EPIII was 30 years or so before ANH - this is 30 minutes before. So EpIII isn't really an OT entrance - RO is meant to be that though. So in that sense, RO is the new OT Vader entrance, that I guess in some ways will "steal the thunder" of the ANH entrance that only happens about 10 mins later if watching RO and ANH back-to-back.

It's not a "time and place" or "memories" kind of thing though.

If you're a "new" fan sitting down to watch the OT timeframe movies (RO/ANH/ESB/ROTJ,) the ATAT variants in RO do kinda "spoil" the ATAT's big entrance in the movie you'll be watching a couple of hours later - which yeah, is a pretty "awe"-inspiring intro. When they come onscreen in ESB now it will be like "oh, it's those walkers again" to some degree.

But all I'm saying is that this "usurping" is to be expected when the new movies trade so heavily on nostalgic elements from the OT, as both TFA and RO do, as opposed to coming up with major all-new elements.

I hope that the bluray comes with a film grain version of the movie, should be fun to watch! :lol

Spot on.

When I saw ESB at the cinema as a 6 year old, the only other stuff as awe inspiring was tv Dr Who, star trek, gerry anderson shows and the sinbad/argonaut films.

The AT AT scene blew my mind.

I doubt it could have that same effect on today's youngsters as they live in an era of special effects and cgi in everything.
