One of my favorite scenes from NWH didn’t even involve the other two Parker’s it was just MCU Parker in the rain after his aunt dies looking up at the big video screen of JJJ give him one hell of an anti Spiderman monologue probably his best yet.

That was some serious BR2049 vibes in that scene with the colors, the rain, the battle damaged angry peter

In a strange way they reminded me all the way back to this:

No it’s the US 78 TV show with Nicholas Hammond, it’s awful but it’s what I grew up with, plus the sixties cartoon of course.
It was the greatest thing ever when I was 7 but like a lot of TV of that era it’s unwatchable now.

I know the feeling - I loved the Fox TV Nick Fury and Generation X movies as a kid.

Hot takes on SM2 re-visited:

1. Peter and Mary Jane's relationship such as it is, borders on abusive but given MJ's family history it's believable. Peter's still a homewrecker and entirely narcissistic when he chooses to make moves on her -- just before walking it back. **** move, Peter.

2. Doc Ock is really well done but what's with the T-Rex thunderous stomping. And those arms are comically extendable (see what I did there?)

3. The burning building gag *again*? Really, Raimi?

4. Aunt May's stunts kinda took me out of the film.

5. I get the arms although they were doing stuff that should have broken Doc in half, fine I'll suspend disbelief, but his ability to tank angry Spidey's punches? Come on, those weren't wee Holland punches ...

6. The fighting and chase scenes were superior to some of the MCU stuff, and the FX held up surprisingly well. Where they didn't hardly mattered because the action was so kinetic and exciting.

7. RE: The wedding ... *really* MJ? Runs off with a huge smile. She really is the worst.

8. Good GOD that's DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL!

These movies are freaking magical -- once again because they're not suffering from the self-conscious snark and knowing winks that permeate what passes for contemporary culture like a bad smell.

Holy crap in SM2 you can really see Raimi's trademark style in the operating room scene. Somehow never noticed that before.

In Spider-Man 1, when Peter is looking to make money and making his suit, you see all his ideas on screen floating around. Raimi used the same technique in Dark Man.

I think the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack is the most amazing soundtrack ever. I love the song gifts and cursed by yellow card. It screams Spider-Man. Don’t argue just listen . Also vindicated is better than hero. Don’t argue again

Also I find it absolutely hilarious that many HATED Andrew Garfield for Spider-Man and use to say how he looks like twilight boy and how he is emo . Now (just like Zach Snyder) people are saying they want his movies restored and they want him back . I remember the hatred he got all the time with every trailer.
“Give it to marvel” is what people would say all the time .

Peter was relatively sweet in the first film but yeah his relationship was always a bit passive aggressive.
i know a lot of the vfx looks dated and overly video gamey at times but from a design point of view I still say that film has the best web swinging agile Spidey in any film.

Watched SM1 last night and yeah I always thought it didn’t have the Raimi touch but it sure does, the sense of humor like the execs who get zapped to skeletons or those quick flashes of the Goblin.

I always liked garfield as spidey, the loss of gwen was one of the most memorable scenes ever for me, you really see the grief and some of the healing process of him moving on towards the end of asm2. Gwen's speech, we have to be more than what we suffer was a great line, and I loved how they mirrored the scene when he saves MJ, but this time it's different, so emotional when MJ asks if he's okay. You lose people, but you move on, and learn from your mistakes, spidey will always lose loved ones, but he keeps going. I was always never a huge fan of Tobey, but seeing them all together and his wisdom was so cool

I just watched this the other day and I thought the same thing about a 70 year old woman hanging from a cane hooked to a gargoyle... I can do a decent number of pull-ups for a dude my age and I'm not sure I could hang from a cane... LOL

Worse, it was an umbrella. It would have broken from the weight in the unlikely event she was able to grip it effectively while panicked, under attack and fearing for her life several stories up -- very cartoonish.
