Thats just insane!!! Carnage and venom had to be harder to sculpt and produce their both massive statues....How can sideshow justify a almost $100 jump in price for a smaller and more simple of a sculpt!!! For crying out loud the base is bigger than spiderman....maybe less base would be less money...come on sideshow your killing us here!!!!

I am going to say keep it that way if you guys keep the ES decent. Usually higher prices, lower ES.

Normally you are right high price = low ES...But not on this one ..It's Spiderman!!! there is no way that this will be lower then teh Venom or Canage...I would think this will be close to at least 300-500 more...
More people collect Heroes then they do Villians and the fact this is one of the biggest Heroes there is...if not the biggest.
And like some said Carnage and Venom have more detail in them yet they are cheaper.....
Something is just not sitting right here....$360 is a crazy price for a comiquette..
I mean hell he is not much less then the Hulkbuster who is 3 times his size and highly detailed....

Yeah, I don't quite get it myself. I mean even if the ES was 150, they could still sell out at 350 and lower the price.

If I had to guess, it could be due to those who order near everything SS puts out, hoping for grail like ES numbers, then cancel if not. So SS decided to go low ES on this one, and raise the price?

What they just should do is start implementing fees...maybe after 3 curtisy cancels?

At least there will be no worry about scalpers. No scalper in their right mind would order this expecting it to go up dramatically on the secondary market. Therefore only those collectors that actually want to own it will preorder it and the ES will be more in line with the actual market for the peice.

We've all read about the rising middle class in China and the fact that no one wants to work in factories anymore and they're closing down. I'm guessing as it gets more complicated to source production for these pieces the prices will go up.

I'm ordering, like everone else will be in 42 hours. Who will actually keep it will be interesting to see.

I would like to say, due to price, this will be keeping the PZ bust company in the SS warehouse for years, but being spiderman it will sell out.

Still interested in seeing who keeps this piece.

I used all my reward points on the Legacy iron man piece, so that's not an option.

Unfortunately, many scalpers just order everything, drive the ES up, then cancel if they can't offload it at no penalty or cost. You will probably see Ebay auctions shortly after he goes up for PO like all pieces. Same goes for collectors that 'order now cancel later' (ONCL). Add to the fact that this is Spidey, a very popular character and that they expand the ES into the waitlist to accomodate most, this will be a very very high ES no matter the cost. Well, we'll see in a couple of weeks when the ES comes out. My guess is it will be pretty high.

am I the only one seeing the obvious here?
That base isnt a base, its a freakin full dio. Theres more polystone and paint on that base than on Spidey himself. its probably the equivalent of 2 comiquette's work in the factory.

.... pretty clear the reasoning behind the price hike IMO ... :monkey1

I agree! I want to know how the heck they drawn in the black lines on the body? By hand? Those poor kids better get paid double while working on this one. Bad joke I know, deal with it.

One point to make. This lara croft is a tad more complicated and diverse then the spiderman piece yet its $100 less????

I accept that the base is quite tall but the base on Venom is almost the same size as the figure too.

Its a pity SS did not post a more clear photograph of all three comiquettes with out the stupid shadow and poor lighting. Just post a picture of the on a flat surface with no risers and proper lighting.

The reason for the price? I think there is no apparent reason. Material costs least of all, although it is a very comfortable excuse: making the thing look big, makes it easier for people to accept a higher price.
Fact is, SSC can tell you anything they like to justify the price. To me it's pretty obvious though: they need money. At lowest possible expense too.

It's not as obvious as you think ...Thanos is a Dio/comiquette he is Double the size of Spidey and actually comes with another statue...and he is $10 bucks cheaper....I know it's only 10 bucks but again I bet it was alot harder and more work to make 2 statues then one statue and a wall. And lets Add the fact Thanos ES will not be even close to Spidey ES..(Lower ES=Higher prices...)

twice the size?
Looks to me like Thanos is 1/5 and Spidey is 1/4. Although I could be wrong.

Venom's base isnt as large as spideys plus the paint on Spideys is much more work.
Look at paints apps on these pieces.
How much masking for different color applications will need to be done with each piece?
Venom base? not much at all. Carnage base? .. again .. not much. Death figure in Thanos? again .. not much.. prety consistent color throughout 90% of those ppieces
Spidey base ... huge in size. Quite a few different color applications with tone variations within each of those color shifts.

Oversized base also = more time to sculpt in concept. More foam to mold for packing. Larger box to print/ship ...

Im not saying there isnt a light price hike in there as well.
but if some thought is put into it, there are many things that could "potentially" warant the higher price tag... :monkey1

Prices could be due to the costs rising overseas. I have heard many companies had to increase costs because the cost of manufacturing rose overseas due to less orders coming in because of the economy still.

Pretty much. But It's not just scalpers, several members in here do "saftey orders" as well, hoping for a "grail". But in turn, it just drives up the ES. A good example is the carcass thread. Look at all the lame excuses for the cancels. Real reason = high ES. But SS really over estimated the demand (like usual) for that piece.

Thats another factor.

I don't think the real or main reason for the cancellations on UC is because of high es. For some people it isn't displayable and for others there is A LOT of other stuff coming around the same time.

This is true. The blank shirts I order for ContradictionWear.com rose up almost 10% in the last month

It's pretty much the main reason. If the es was say 150, and this thing was going for 500 bucks...the tune would be much different.
