Prices could be due to the costs rising overseas. I have heard many companies had to increase costs because the cost of manufacturing rose overseas due to less orders coming in because of the economy still.

So increasing the price dramatically would change that though? it would make it worse. If people werent buying before, why would they buy now with an even higher price? It was not a smart move for SS to make a piece with a highly detailed and large base like this. The general Collectors dont want that if its gonna cost them an extra $100. I dont understand why they decided to take it easy with the Venom and Carnage bases, then go all out on Spidey, making a more popular character less affordable to collectors that have been waiting for this piece.

Maybe SS is testing the market? Spidey would certainly be a good choice to do so. Isnt Spidey more popular than Alien? Yet Alien sold many statues at the very costly $800 price tag. I think this $350 will sell quite a few. Sadly, a certain consumer base may be left out.

Problem I see is there are less Alien pieces so it is probably easier to justify paying $800 for it while there are A LOT of marvel pieces to collect.

I agree. Lots under $300. Lots over $300. That may be the point.
However, it's too bad SS couldn't keep the three pieces in the same price range.

Anyone know whats the ES for the spidey. Hope its less than 500!!! :panic:

I think there is a big chance they produce more than 1500pcs of this reg. spidey (maybe upto 1750). But I hope it will stay up to 1350 max, but it is not likely when you look at the 650 for excl.. (when venom had only 350).

In my opinion it’s the fact that they know they will sell at $350 so why not charge that? It’s been that way ever since the Bolrog statue came out all these years ago now. If people are willing to spend that much money on the secondary market, why not charge that up front? Some of these pieces that are $700 to $1200 at retail really make you ask WTF, but they still sell out during preorder so why wouldn’t they charge that?
“Increased production cost” is a nice way of saying we can charge that and you will pay it. Until the inventory sits in the warehouse the bleeding will continue. Vote with your wallet.
