Re: Spud's Customs

Hey just curious witch paint are you using, I have no idea where to start

Re: Spud's Customs

Thanks everyone. :)

@Rene, I don't know the particular color. It was just in a set my brother had. I used a tan color, orange, and like a beige color.

@Leebro, I use model master acrylics for the most part. Lately my Hobby Lobby has been getting only enamels so I've been getting Model Color acrylic-colors. They're still pretty good.

Re: Spud's Customs

Alright so here comes a long post with a lot of pictures relating to my latest finished project, my Sullust trooper. If you've played the new Battlefront you know these guys. I've wanted to do this figure since I first played the beta for the game, but the pack seemed like a lot to tackle. But finally I got over my own self doubt and gave it a shot. And I'm extremely pleased with how this all came together.

So I'll show the pack in various stages from start to finish to give you an idea of what my process was.

And the finished project. Really loving this figure.

Re: Spud's Customs

That pack is a work of art Tyler. Well done....the figure looks awesome.

Re: Spud's Customs

I'm not hip to the Battlefront source material, but I really like what you did to transform the wood and other bits into the completed backpack. Excellent work.

That "transformative" process of taking basic source materials and manipulating them to look like something else is my favorite part of this hobby.

Re: Spud's Customs

Thanks guys. :D

I just got the hook up on some more Marmit Stormie stuff so there will be another Battlefront/OT trooper coming soon. I'm really digging this weathering of Stormtroopers. Makes them feel more like actual soldiers instead of just shiny patrolling goons.

Re: Spud's Customs

Starting to get back into the swing of customizing. Put together one of my Cantina Saurians and the second is just lacking a head sculpt.
Can't thank Duane enough for these awesome vests.

Also added another Battlefront trooper to my ranks. He also doubles as a ROTJ Endor trooper. I'm really digging the weathered Stormtrooper look.

Re: Spud's Customs

Thanks guys.

Revisited this guy tonight to make him more ROTJ accurate. I pulled the side tabs off the belt and cut the straps on the holster and flipped the belt over and glued the pieces back on so his holster is on the right side now. Also popped the plate off on the abdomen and flipped it and glued it back.

And there ya have it.
