Re: Spud's Customs - Vizam

you did some awesome jobs on these skiff guards. I wish you luck on pote. I was watching a video of the Hasbro figure mine looks like the Hasbro version blown up.

Re: Spud's Customs - Vizam

Yeah its pretty dead on. Duane has provided me with an excellent starting point in the way of all the clothing I'll need its just up to me to do the rest. I'd love to see your Ephant Mon if you've got a couple shots of him.

Re: Spud's Customs - Vizam

Did a little prep work on some figures this weekend and finished one that has been on my desk for quite awhile.

Finally got around to painting my new Nein Nunb sculpt and I love the result. Also changed a few things up on Nunb to make him more accurate to his look in Battlefront.

Also got started on Vedain. I was shooting to finish him and the blue Nikto over the weekend but his head gear, which will be very similar on the blue Nikto, took more of my time that I thought it would. But I really like how it came out and I'm glad I didn't rush myself. There was a lot of time just sitting there staring at the sculpt as it was going through its phases trying to wrap my head around the construction and how it would look. Plus it doesn't help that there isn't an overabundance of photos of Vedain to go by. Anyway, here's some WIP shots of his head.

After the initial paint up I made a wire frame for the basic shape of the helmet.

Now starting in on some of his other details.

And lastly because I was curious I did a very rough mock-up of Pote Snitkin by building up his body with a bunch of padding and fat suits. I'm pleased with the direction he's going and think I can make it work to get his body type correct.
I used a body that the forearms could be pulled off of to make the arm connections easy.

Liking how the fabric is looking just in this quick thrown together test. Looking forward to working on him after I finish the two Nikto dudes.

As always, major props to Duane for making so much of this possible.

Re: Spud's Customs - Vizam

You have amazing talent. That pote is insane

Re: Spud's Customs - Vizam

Vedain looks awesome dude. Great work on his head gear.

What did you use for the "horns" on the helmet? They look perfect.

Re: Spud's Customs - Vizam

Thanks Chris.

I was kind of at a loss on what to use for them because I didn't really feel like mixing up some Milliput to use so I improvised. Back when Duane sent me Muftak, he sent along a spare face piece and mouth tube and I had the extra mouth tube sitting on my desk. So I cut it down into pieces and shaved, cut, and sanded two of the pieces down to look like the horns then made vertical cuts all around them so when I gave them a wash with paint it would go into the grooves and give them some depth. Worked out pretty well. But I'm going to have to regroup for the blue Nikto because I only have one piece of that mouth tube left and he has three horns on his.

Re: Spud's Customs - Nein Nunb, and Vedain WIP

Looking really good as always Spud.

I especially like the Nien Nunb and the start on Pote. These are two figures I would like to tackle some day when (if!) I get caught up on everything else.

Re: Spud's Customs - Nein Nunb, and Vedain WIP

Awesome work in this thread Spud, some really great stuff; are you sewing the outfits yourself? I was wondering if you could give me some tips on making Jawa hands for my project, should I attempt sculpting myself or would I do better by cutting down a set of 6th scale human hands?

Re: Spud's Customs - Nein Nunb, and Vedain WIP

Thanks guys. :)

No Tinman, another member Duane makes most of the specialty clothing I use and he makes the head sculpts. For the jaws hands if it were me I'd use existing hands as a starting point and trim them down from there.
