Re: Rogue PF

Some people do invest in this hobby in the sense that the profits made are used to help fund the hobby itself. But realistically, how much can one really make through secondary sales? Usually around $50 to $100 tops per item. And you need to put down lots of cash to get the item.

If you expect to make it into a business, then you should start your own online store or comic cornerstore. And even then, it isn't exactly a lucrative business. Most of these guys are fans first and businessmen second. Having said that, if ur the owner of hot toys, that's a different story. But for every hot toys, there are half a dozen struggling toy companies out there desperately trying to survive.

So moral of the story: buy to enjoy owning the collectible If you make a profit on a resale, that is just another secondary aspect of the hobby that provides enjoyment.

Now this is some understandable logic here...:lecture

Re: Rogue PF

hope sideshow doesn't find out :wave

Oh they know, in fact they ship my mistress gift along with my second Hulk comiquette Ex. I use different email and account name but same credit card and address. Email and account name are very similiar too.

Sell me one for retail with free shipping and I won't tell sideshow.

Haha

Re: Rogue PF

For me, I collect for my personal enjoyment. However, it's still nice to see the values go up. Why?

Because one of the differences between this hobby and some other form of entertainment I could spent money on is that the money I spend on this is not completely lost. If I go to fancy restaurants, an expensive vacation, etc, that money is gone afterwards for good.

But the money I spend on this, if there was ever a situation where say I suffer an injury and couldn't work, or need money for something else. I can convert the collection back into money without too much loss ( I will lose some money on some and maybe make a little on others, and overall will hopefully break even or come close). I am not looking to make money on this hobby. But the ability to retain value is a big part of the reason why I'd be more willing to put my entertainment dollars here rather than some thing else.

Overall though it's still for entertainment, the money comes out of the money I budgeted for entertainment and I never buy a statue with the intention of selling.

I could've said it better myself, and my sentiment :exactly:

Re: Rogue PF

Wolverine is sticking out like a sore thumb, and it's not due to his color. They really should have just sculpted his suit and given him a material belt.

You have that backward. They should have given all the others cloth costumes. I haven't gotten Gambit, Cyclops or Rogue because they aren't really PFs.

It boils down to how you feel the medium is best served. Personally, I think the cloth jackets look like the jackets they wear on the panels. Wolverine's cloth body suit? Not so much, especially when compared to the sculpted body suits of the others. Gives it that comic look that we all know and love. I might be sounding like a broken record at this point, but PFs < Comiquettes as far as statues where the source material is not live action if you want something that looks like said source material.

Re: Rogue PF

Here is a quick Photoshop attempt at what Wolverine would look like in his brown costume. I know it is not exact (no side stripes or shoulder pads) but you get the idea.

Much better, Thanks!

I hope we get a brown Wolverine and I hope it's not a variant of the Wolverine PF.

:lecture I'd rather see a whole new sculpt/pose also.

Re: Rogue PF

:lecture I'd rather see a whole new sculpt/pose also.

as would i, but i doubt very much it'll happen.

I dunno I personally love wolverine, this one was made to be posed with sabretooth not the other xmen pfs im sure ss will make a another version in the future to match the other xmen pfs

doubt it'll happen, their variants have always just been repaints or redoes of existing pieces.
they've already made a com version and a Pf version so other than a variant of the yellow PF i thinks it's going to be along time before we see another one.
unless it's in another dio form

Re: Rogue PF

They should just keep the same sculpt, but instead of giving wolverine the whole suit in fabric.......I would make the dark brown parts of the suit a faux leathery type material for the boots ,gloves ,tantarans , and belt and leave the rest sculpted and painted that would look good I think..........

Re: Rogue PF

Nice pose Snoopy.

I have always loved this one...simple but full of energy
