I don't think there are any indications (i.e. "2nd printing" on a comic) to indicate it was a replacement or "2nd run", other than it being free from damage, no greasy application, hard trays removed and replaced with soft foam, and potentially a white box instead of graphic box.

Go with the non-damaged one. Still, ~$500 for a "damaged" one is still good price. scratches aren't that bad, it's just when you buy new directly from SS, you should expect mint. Otherwise, scratches are easily tolerable.

HERE'S THE SITUATION: I have a seller on Ebay, who will sell me his for $585 + shipping. I've dealt with him in the past concerning Sideshow pieces, and I've been happy with the results. But this price seems too good to be true. Advice?

If he is reliable then go for it.

I took mine to ebay and it sold at $700 last week.

No one has gotten a refund yet so we don't really know. Supposedly it takes 60 days but tread with caution.

Yeah, like El Roranous has said we haven't got the refund yet. You just set up an account with Microsoft and link it to your Paypal account. They keep tabs on how much you've earned. If you don't use the "cashback" with 60 days you have the option to transfer it to your Paypal account. I was honestly very skeptical at first, but after reading the fine print a number of times it's pretty straight forward (despite all the clauses and stipulations.) Bottomline: You do get your money back *on qualifying purchases* but you do have to wait 60 days.

the wait period is just to assure that people don't collect the discount money, then try to return the product for a refund on top of it.
