Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I wonder if you can pierce the material in the arm pit with a syringe and inject a small dab of glue there to get the material to sit properly.

This is EXACTLY what i planned on doing from the moment i saw it. Hence, a little less freak out on my part. Good thinking!

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I think everyone can see there is plenty of positive. Great sculpt, great base. Sculpted capes look great. Paint job where there is paint works for the most part save for some missing highlights on his face.

The issue is the fabric. More specifically the seam which is in the wrong place. A little more attention to detail and a crisis could have been averted. Someone at SSC look at these and said, "Good enough". The fact that everything else seems sublime makes this issue all the more jarring.

Good posting Snads :hi5: I reckon from all the pics we've seen so far they've probably been from 2 maximium 3 collectors. Whether everyone elses will have the same issues, only time will tell. I'd like to think that once we get to see a vast amount of pics from many more owners then more positives will come out of it :exactly:

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I was just thinking the same thing

Great minds think alike... actually I think I've seen a post about someone doing this for another statue which came to mind.

The glue might seep through the fabric and give him that "sweaty pits" look. Maybe if someone could do a stitch or two somewhere. Maybe with fishing wire so no one sees it. That might somehow make the fabric more taut. :dunno

Any hobbyists with fabric experience, please speak up! Would glue work using a needle to pierce the fabric or is there a better way?

Re: Sideshow Batman PF?

I've already tweeted and face booked SS about the problem and whether they have a plan lol

Ha, their response will be: You can keep it and suck it up, return it for a full refund (minus original shipping) or if it is especially bad you might get 25% back.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I am not an expert but I wouldn't but glue anywhere near that fabric. I foresee it seeping through and looking like a stain.

Are you going to do it? Are you in the first batch? I would love to see the results. If you do it, please take some pictures or a vid on how you approach it.

Either that, or have it a taylor do the the work for me. I don't think this is anything expensive, or difficult. I'm sure it would only take a few stitches in the correct places and it will look aight!

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Maybe bats just needs a little Right Guard to right this problem? Regardless, doesn't look promising at the price point and it seems to become more of a trend for discrepancies as of late.

Depends. We had lots of win lately with Conan: Fury of the Beast, Master Chief PF, Mary Jane Scott Campbell Comiquette, Darth Malgus, Chewbacca etc...

Either way, a few pictures would be nice to share if you can.

with all that said, hopefully it wont have to come to that and we receive something which is easily fixable :exactly:

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

:goodpost:
One thing that could help them is not overstretching themselves with licenses that are not that much in demand. There's several PF's I've seen announced that I wonder how many people will actually order. I'd rather them spend the time on their marquee pieces as this Batman should be as near perfect as possible. They charged the price for it and they certainly had the time for it. Yeah, my Joker, two Jack Sparrows, and others were fine. But a lot of pieces I followed and cancelled or did not order, didn't fair well. Also, a few pieces I sent back several times and then just cancelled as it was clear that a certain 350 statue just couldn't get true Q/C.

They might have to go back to the way things were several years ago and build themselves back up again. Smaller ES, concentrate on strong licenses, concentrate on the true quality a high end collectible should have. None of this barely-passable "he looks okay, he'll look great if we get him re-painted or if we glue his armpit" excuses. This guy cost $400.00+ and should look it. If a lot of people send Bats back or want refunds, at this ES, it will make Sideshow realize that things need to change. Whether it be someone staying in China to oversee production at all times or going with better quality factories, something has gotta give before they turn the fan base off for good. I still have confidence in them but it has dwindled. My solution is that I will wait to order a piece until I see how it turns out. My loss on missing out on an Ex but that's what I will have to do. :peace

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I will wait to see him in person before making any judgements. Bad pics are a norm when something first arrives.

I like what I see so far but I also see the differences to what was shown before.

Yeah I think it would, and also, why would I (or anyone else) need to repair a brand new 450 high-end collectible? Sorry, but if I get into the business of fixing their production issues, I might as well start making my own statues. :slap

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

You guys shouldn't be discussing ways to fix a brand new expensive statue you've been waiting two years for.
I don't know how a decent camera will fix obvious tailoring issues.
