Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

For those of you that ordered from CornerStore Comics...here is what they said when I asked them about this statue:

"We were hearing so many concerns about scratched heads from fans and other retailers that we have opted to get our shipment from the second batch, though they haven't given us a date on that just yet."

Thanks!

Bmutha said if I at least don't give it a go then he's gonna be upset :(

:lol :lol kidding :) I guess its an OCD thing Spidey...to know that the armpits can look so much better with that one fix makes me wanna do it...I know that if I fail I've always got your wise words of 'I told you so!':lecture to fall back on :lol

I will say NO such thing..I may cry a little ...lol

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I think that the Joker Ex came out in August, and I think the Reg sold out by about February. I know that it had a lower ES, BT this is an AMAZING looking Batman. He will go sooner then many think is my guess.

RB> is it truly that bad that you can't leave it ALONE!!!

In regards to the armpit fix, mine wasn't that bad either. I think most of these weren't that bad. However, I had the opportunity to get Rafael, who originated the armpit glue fix method, and posted the video of it, to fix mine for me. My Batman now looks like the prototype. Though I could've "lived with it", I much prefer the way it was intended to look with the pits fixed.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Wise words buddy :goodpost: and don't worry, I'm pretty much as slow as they come when modding/customizing...I take it you did your one successfully? Any pics?

Yeah here is a couple pictures of each of my batman statues. I fixed both of them.

You won't fail it is pretty simple, just take your time while doing it, and if you are OCD like me you'll take your time to make sure they come out perfect.

Yup...not too hard. The hardest part for me h second time around was actually getting the suit unglued...whoever did it in the factory used a ton of glue and parts were actually glued up over the edge of the cape "indent". Just be careful ungluing it, and after that, you'll be fine. Use a syringe like I did in the video, and you will only get glue where you want it to go.

Yup, it looks miles better with the fix, in my opinion.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Looks awesome my friend. Congrats. Any useful tips that you think I'd need to know before I give it a go? :)

Thanks man I really enjoy them. Yeah like I said already take your time and go slow, be careful when pulling it away from the glue around the seam at first. Comes off pretty easy but on my second one it was a little tougher and if not careful could easily rip the seam. Practice with the fab-tic glue first to get the technique down. When applying the glue make sure to put it on the seam and you don't need that much it is really strong stuff once bonded. Don't pull the nozzle of the bottle away from the fabric quick, the glue is stringy and get places you don't want. The back of a butter knife works fantastic, don't be afraid to apply pressure. You really want to get that fabric up in the pit. Last thing is be careful when pulling the fabric down the body at first and make sure the seam doesn't start to come apart, if it does take the glue and apply a little to the spot let it bond and then it will be good to go. I didn't run into the problem personally, but I read about someone who did, but that will take care of that hiccup real quick. Good luck friend, make sure to post pictures after :wave :hi5:

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Lol.... Okay just had to share this short story. So I was in 1000000 Comix inOronto, and they have this up on top PF a display case. This whole family was looking at all the statues in the cases and THEN the looked up. The Corras do WOWs that came out of ALL of them was just priceless. Even the Mom was awestruck ...lol

Just made a screenshot of that lol. Just in case I decide to do mine. Another thing keeping me from it is the fact that it might ruin the worth of it. Lol wonder if the long term effects will turn out bad :(

So if you were to do this and TOTALLY FUBAR it what would your punishment be. Oh and I showed my wife the vids too, and she thinks it is NUTS to try...lol.

Don't know why it would ruin the worth looks 100x better IMO. If I didn't have a Batman PF and was buying a ex used down the road I would rather buy one that looks like the prototype then old saggy pits Batman. To save myself the trouble of fixing it. Long term effect? The glue is made for fabric Batman's suit is fabric. If it puts your mind at rest I have been using the glue in question for years. I have fixed torn construction pants with it, (from when I used to be a construction worker). The glue on the pants is 5 years old and still holds strong on the tears and those pants get washed. The Batman suit just sits behind a glass door. I'd bet my entire statue collection that glue stays strong and hold with no bad long term effects long after I am in my grave and my kid probably sales the statue for money :lol I am sure if you fix ours it will turn out fantastic with no problems friend. :wave

Nah, that glue is not likely to spontaneously fail. At the end of my video I try to rip it apart (on my first body that I had to destroy anyway), and the glue has a very strong hold.

Lol yeah mine said as much too. Smart ladies. Dude if I did and I effed it like that, I couldnt think of a worse punishment. I wouldnt be able to get another EX. Im not down to pay the after market price and im sure the wife wouldn't let me if I wanted to. Cause she'd say its my own damn fault, Especially after she asked me not to lmao

Okay that actually does make me feel a little more assured. And you make a good point about someone wanting one like how you have it over another. However my Batman isnt bad at all. It's like Roberto said, it's my OCD. I am known to not leave well-enough alone. If I had gotten some of the pit problems others had then I Definitely would've done it the same weekend I saw the video for the first time. However thank you for that bit on tye fabric tac. I may one day try it. When the wife isnt around and surprise her with a better Batman lol
