I'm still hoping to get a Cobra soldier but am still undecided. I like the Officer with the Red balaclava but I really don't like the beige gear. Could the belt, holster, pouches, etc be dyed black with RIT dye if one wanted to have the gear all black? Has anyone put the Officer head with red balaclava on the Regular troopers body, like some of the old school troopers that weren't officers but had the red faces and black gear?

The stitching often does not dye. But if it does not bother you to have the black web gear having tan stitching...then it should not be a problem.

I am going to get an extra set of webgear from TA or someplace and dye it...then I am thinking about re-stitching it with black thread.

Thank you both very much. I was even thinking about using a sharpie on the stitching, but it doesn't sound like this would really work well. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

you can also mix normal acrylic paint with fabric medium. the good thing about painting on the pouches is that its not really a bad thing if the paint makes them stiff.

You can also mix black acrylic paint into a cup of water and soak it until you achieve the desired tone. This helps with the stitching as well. I fyou have a spare figure it's good to set the rig up on him after you've soaked it so that it will dry in a better shape.

Well I bit on the 49.99 CO from hastings yesterday. I got my order confirmation email and all it states is

ORDER NUMBER: XXXXXXXXXXX
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Qty Title Format
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1 GI Joe Cobra Officer Toys & Games
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

What's worrying me is that there's no mention of 12", 1/6, or Sideshow anywhere on that order. I'm going to be PISSED if I get a 3 3/4 grrrrrr

Noticed that they had the BSG Amoktime Cyclon switched out with the Razor Cylon, too. Read descriptions carefully. Only way I was able to tell was by the listed shipping weight.

Man, I hope you didn't get hosed. Good luck.

I got a second shipping notice and that one does specify a 12" figure, though the time of arrival for the figure is June 10!

so.....from Texas to California it's going to take 20+ days. Now that's what I call personalized service! Someone from Hastings is walking it across a couple of states to my door :impatient::dunno:lol
