Now we see why they did the weathering on the boots.

I completely forgot about this guy, but I'm very satisfied with how that looks and I can't wait to get my first and only "Joe":D

I'd estimate anywhere between $65 to $80. Assuming you have an extra Prometheus body (or bodies) handy, you still need to buy the proper uniform (which seperated by Toy Anxiety, will likely include the pants, shirt, and tactical vest). Those boots look to be unique as well. They look to be one piece, but I'm not certain. That's it for a bare bones Viper. Now, if you wanted to add the backpack, grenades, rope, knife, etc., it'll cost you more.

The only things that I see that can be shared from the Vipers you ordered are probably the patches, and you can give your bashed Viper the Masada or the old school made up assault rifle. Additionally, if you ordered EX Vipers, you don't have to worry about getting additional head sculpts.

The more experienced bashers and customizers could probably say more on this matter. The only figures I've bashed are two extra Red Ninjas, and that was fairly simple because:

A) The Red Ninja EX came with a crapload of stuff, to include weapons, extra set of feet, and the extra head sculpt;

B) I already had a spare body lying around after I ported Snake Eyes to a TTA.

So all I needed to purchase for a second Red Ninja were the pants, shirt, vest, and forearm and shin bracers. Of course, I also picked up a headwrap, rope belt, black belt, tanto knife, hat, shuriken and kunia for the full effect.

On my second Red Ninja, I purchased all the above, plus an extra Pro body (luckily I could use the second face plated head sculpt from the Cobra NInja Viper), and am sharing weapons between the Red Ninja and the Cobra Ninja Viper.

You may save $10 to $15, but in my case, I'd probably order additional Vipers to get everything, including the display box.

If its over $50 then I'll just buy another. I was thinking all I would need would be the uniform and the tactical vest. Shoes I can share. Helmet and portrait I could share. Weapons and gear I could share. I'll def have to map it out. Maybe someone could map out a cheap bash.

I'll be watching TA as well to possibly bash a 2nd.

If certain parts sell quickly you might be able to bash a Televiper with the ex head. Use the boots of a Cobra troop instead, don't need the gauntlets or vest. Pretty much just need the suit for that.

Perhaps the splashed mud look on the figure displayed at SDCC is unique to that one? Sure looks like the color of the mud matches the color of that environment base perfectly.

I'm betting Sideshow's done it to every Viper in hopes of encouraging more sales in the environment line.

They ought to consider making a "Viper Officer" with a Gold tinted faceplate and a pristine version of the Viper uniform. I'd buy one of those long before I would a Python Patrol or Crimson Viper.

That'd be too easy to customize and SSC seems to like to change things up a bit more. I could see a desert version in Sonic Fighter colors though.

I would buy that.

I think they will prolly offer up a Crimson version. Prolly try and pass it off as a Elite Trooper . .

Ugh! I hope not but I could see Crimson viper being a ex. at some point. The only Elite Troopers I want are Crimson Guards. As on-model as possible down to the v-shaped backpack and AK-insertnumberhere.

Not saying that a Viper Officer would be my first or even my tenth choice for the next Cobra troop builder, but if they rehash the Viper like they have with the Trooper than I'd prefer a cleaned up blue uniformed one over any of the other alternatives.

I think I've decided to use the exclusive padded helmet head to a make a Hydra goon for Hot Toys Cap to beat the crap out of when he comes out.

I see on the SSC website that the Viper is now delayed till November. That kinda sucks because that means Z and R&R, maybe even Hawk won't make it to collectors until 2012.
