I don't have it yet, but check the assault vest. I'm thinking the ammo belt attaches to either the vest or his backpack.

So much for my photos that I was promising earlier. Well, I'm posting some photos below, but they are to clarify the problem of the lack of male clips to connect the side female clips of the ammo belt.

I'm going to show several pics to show the different sides/angles of the vest, belts, harnesses, and ammo belt. I've spent the last hour and half trying to figure this out but still feel like a _____ktard.

The front of the vest has two sections of velcro which CAN attach to the rear of the ammo belt. No problem.

The insides of the assault vest do not have any hidden straps that could possibly attach to the female clips on the ammo belt.

Here's a shot of the harness on the figure. No possible male clips for the ammo belt here.

I thought maybe the backpack would have some additional straps that would mount to the ammo belt from the sides, but none either.

So here lies the problem. What connects to these female clips to wrap around the figure? It's not the backpack. There is nothing on the existing assault vest.

This is how I felt after spending over an hour and a half stumped on this. --> :thud: Who knows? Maybe its all on me and completely user error and its something obvious to make the connection work.

But I'm thinking possibly there is supposed to be an extra rear belt with male clips that goes on the backside of the vest to help connect and wrap this ammo belt around Viper's body. Possibly Sideshow forgot to include this? WTF!!!!!!!!! LOL

I can't link the pics right now, but go to Sideshow's site and look at pic #5 of the gallery. It's a POV from behind the Viper, and it clearly shows the ammo belt (which goes across the front of the Viper's torso) clipped onto something on the vest or backpack.

I may be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me. Of course, I don't have it in hand. :dunno

Mine won't be here until Friday. I don't see the clasps connecting to anything in the reference pic. Are there MOLLE straps on the back? Because it looks like it might be hooked via MOLLE to the vest: high res pic

Nam, thanks for the high res pic! I noticed that one of the female clips on the side are unused on the left side. Maybe these are supposed to just hang there?

But it still doesn't explain how the ammo belt is secured to the sides of him. So far, only velcro on his belly is holding this thing to his body. The sides of the ammo belt are just hanging freely in space.

I thought I have done pretty well in figuring out the harness/vest systems on past SSC Joe figs, but I think I earned a big fat F this evening on this one, unless this is truly a QC issue. :rotfl

It makes on sense to attach the belt via MOLLE straps considering that they placed buckle clips at both ends of the belt. The velcro in the back of the belt is not enough to hold the weight of the clips by itself.

I would be nice to see a pic of the belt without this particular issue. So if anyone got one with both female and male clips it would at least let us confirm our speculation of QC issues

Looks like there are two MOLLE straps on either end of the mag pouches. Those will need to be woven into the threads on the front of the vest (like weaving a basket), to secure it, then close the mag pouches together (in the center) with the velcro and clasp.

Whether you think it makes sense or not, that's how it needs to be secured. Here's how ya do it:

Nam, you are the man! I wove them in and they worked!

Will post pics soon. Thanks again brotha! :clap :yess:

N/P. These look a LOT easier than the modern military figures who don't come with instructions and EVERY pouch they have has to be attached via MOLLE, for the vest, belt and drop holsters. By the time you're done weaving those, you're blind and your fingers are cramped and numb. :lol

Holy crap, I recently bought that Soldier Story Battle Los Angeles figure, and dang those things are a pain! I gave up on weaving those that much and just did enough to keep them on the vest. Sometimes true minatures aren't always the best. I missed Sideshow's clear tabs :lol

So weaving is the key to attach the ammo belt sides to the vest. Here's pics for reference.

ViperTS10.jpg

It's best to separate the ammo belt into the two halves, then attach each half to the respective sides. Once that's done, you can close the vest and clasp the middle together.

ViperTS11.jpg

And then you can tuck in the extra lengths on the dual straps on each side back into the pouch by weaving.

THANKS FOR NOT GIVING US INSTRUCTIONS ON THIS ONE, SIDESHOW! :cuckoo:

And here's my pics as promised. This figure is GREAT! I really love how Sideshow chose to go with the Chrome dome. The details on this figure have been raised a notch. The only gripe I have is the small feet. It doesn't look proportionate to his overall presence. But aside from that, everything looks killer on this dude.

I never had a Viper in '86, but this sure as hell makes up for that. :) (Am I the only one who likes to sniff the inside of a SSC figure box as soon as I open it? :rotfl)

Figure looks great but, the body looks kinda ____, i mean the way the clothes lay on it, tailoring could be better..i'll still get it.

And i don't understand those clasps dangling out the sides, would they secure to anything at all on this figure?, backpack maybe?.

I got no problem weaving pouches onto tactical vests, its been part of this hobby for years and years.

It's not hard, get a pair of tweezers and a dental pick (which is damned useful) for MOLLE gear, boom, done!
