So is it possible to seperate the helmet from the chrome face?

it's possible only if one decides to break it. The helmet is sorta like a clones helmet...hollow with the chrome being inserted and joined to the plastic of the helmet.

Not sure if that makes any sense...but to answer it concisely...no.

Still a work in progress. Sorry for the bad pics . . . . . it's REALLY LATE:thud:

Nice work. I think I might do something like this too. It is a good looking figure right out of the box though. I can't wait to get it. I regret putting my two exclusives on flexpay. I wonder if sideshow would let me pay them off early?

Sideshow has officially turned the corner with Hawk and the Viper. In my opinion these are the best two figures in the line so far.

Viper is without a doubt the best Cobra figure and probably better than any of the Joes too.

The stitching on all his gear is flawless, nothing has to be forced, or overly futz. This is for sure a $140 figure. And paint apps on the exclusive are spot on. No issues there.

Weathering on the boots and pants is really well done, even if you dont want it there. At least it is done well.

Only thing I would say negative against the figure is the helmet feels a little too cheap, and I think it could be easily broken or at least damaged if not handled carefully.

Bottom line, this figure is a 10. I need more!

Just from the pics I'd agree with you. Can you tell if it would be possible to separate the chrome part of the face from the helmet?

Someone said it's possible but you'd have to break it. Planning to make the commander?

I have to agree. When I first saw the pics of the Viper from SSC, I thought that this would be the figure that got more Joe collectors into the 1/6th realm.

Haven't gotten mine yet...but just from the pics and customs I've already seen...can't wait!!!

what makes this figure even better is how its a replicated 1986 ARAH version Viper...anything else would suck...the more these figures look like their 80's counterpart, with a mixture a modern, the better

As long as they're not a slave to the design! :lecture

Well said.:)

And one other thing, the neck is a long version:

Which works prefect with the exclusive head, but the helmet sits to high on it and a bit of a giraffe neck. A quick switch out with a stand sized neck post and its all good.

This is the first figure, since I got the original trooper for $99, that I really fell the figure is worth the price. If Sideshow can keep up this quality, life is gonna be good :yess:
