I think the trick is to water treat the pants and ditch the ascot. The Pro is fine, but I wanted more options with the boots so I went with the TTA. One more thing that is a Duke neck joint under the Viper's noggin. Oh, and I also hate the ratcheting knees that was reason enough to port him over.

:dunno Prometheus = same options for boots as TTA. :dunno

For the pro you have to go out and find feet. The TTA comes with feet so that opens up more possibilities to use boots that don't have pegs. Not sure if that was his point, but thats one difference.

Not sure, but wouldn't the old hot toys beets be compatible with the new TTA. Again, I'm not certain. But then again with normal feet you can use cloth boots.

I'm sure the oldschool HT figures used foot-based boots, but as far back as their military figures, they were utilizing the peg design which is compatible with the Prometheus. I think Bruce Lee is the first modern male figure in a while to use human feet (please correct me if I'm wrong) with actual shoes.

I hear ya. But ultimately, he used a HT peg-based design. :pfft:

Yeah, but in the end going to a TTA didn't adversely affect that decision either...so :nana:. :lol

My problem is the TTA still doesn't resolve the ugly joint issue on the elbow that I have.

I think I'm going to buy a Kaustic KP01A someday and try it.

I would've personally saved the TTA for something a little more exposed given the Pro looks near identical on the Viper. But meh, it's Deak's figure and he'll be selling it come Feb anyway so the swap to the TTA will probably get him more $$$. :lol

They sell those rubber sleeves for like $10-$20 on ebay? :huh

Ugly joint? You hardly see the joint. And it's a action figure. The Kaustic body would be a total waste on a figure that the only exposed joint is a elbow.

I've argued in favor of your side of the argument 99% of the time.

In this instance as I have said before, the ONE place that you are supposed to see skin on the Viper happens to be one of the LEAST aesthetic parts of the Prometheus body. Its almost like if they made a Quick Kick and used the paddle feet. Sticks out to me.

In the end its only a $20 upgrade (counting the value of the Pro to use elsewhere).

Funny how people differ in preference.

For me people who spend $20 to upgrade to cloth boots that look out of scale are wasting their money.

The Duke joint and the Viper one are the same length.:dunno

In addition to what I said above, as other elements of the "action figures" improve their life-like details (head sculpts, clothing, weapons, etc) the increased desire to have the actual body look better shouldn't be a shock to anyone. I think the hobby has improved so much that the "action figures have ugly visible joints, deal with it" argument is starting to lose ground a bit.

I remember people saying "why bother" in regards to making the prometheus forearms look more realistic with hair and veins when I asked for it on Duke. Now the TTM and hopefully Rock n Roll will push that standard towards spending a little bit more effort on fine details for visible body parts and people are going to expect it. Progress is good.

Eh, I hardly notice the pro elbow myself. It doesn't look bad at all unless it's a sleeveless Storm Shadow.

But I understand where you are coming from. Yesterday my neighbor came over to borrow a half inch torque wrench and asked about my figures since he has seen me take pictures of them in the yard and such.

Anyway, we get to the Viper. He was amazed by it, looking at his reflection in the shield and all saying how kewl it was till he saw it. The Pro Elbow Joint. I could see the growing shriek of fear on his face from the reflection in the shield and he screamed "WHAT THE ____ IS THAT??????!!!!!" and ran out of the house even leaving the wrench. Haven't heard from him since.

True Story.

Here is my Viper, switched the body to a TTA along with the boots for the T-1000's.

Gonna mirror what everyone else has said and comment that your Viper looks fantastic. I really like the T-1000 boots.

Another thought I had is that the Crimson Guard boots might look good on the Viper, but then I rechecked the pictures and the CG boots have the trademark pouches on the side of the boots.

I like the neck gaiter on the Viper, but yeah, if you tuck it in all the way, it does look like an ascot.

Tiem for a newb question, as I haven't been customizing as long as the rest of you vets. What does water treating do?

Wow. He almost melted down as much as I did over it.

I can see where you are coming from though, my 6 year old nephew really likes the highly detailed Hasbro 12" "action figures" too. :wave
