Re: Harley Quinn Part 2

LOL! Yes! and ....yes. I can't think of any female statues in the DCU I would buy except for WW. The only other character I may pick up is Black Canary. That would depend on how far my JL line up goes. If they mess up any of the big 7 I'll sell off all of them that I already own besides the trinity. If SSC gets them right, I will add Dinah (and Ollie) to the collection. That'll be it for me.

They already failed with GL :monkey3. So trinity it should be. :wink1:

What about Catwoman and Batgirl?

As long as the Top 5 are done right I'm fine with them although I'd like to get Aquaman and Martian Manhunter as well...as for Female DC PF's, I need Catwoman and Batgirl, Talia and Huntress are Maybes, I need a Circe to go with Wonder Woman...If the did Vertigo I'd get Death...I think that's about it.

Re: Harley Quinn Part 2

I would easily b down for catwoman, huntress, supergirl, zatanna, canary and star sapphire. I find it funny how many say they are done :rotfl

On another note I'm not getting Harley but have joker. I'm also getting batman but wont get robin. Some people just like sidekicks :dunno

Catwoman is a must. However, we already know what she'll look like because she's based off artgerm's work. We are just waiting on a PO. I was specifically referring to pieces we have yet to see or are guessing on. Batgirl will be an instant pass for me. Never liked the whole Bat family thing. No Robin, no Batgirl, and no Huntress for me. I would be open to a Nightwing PF if it looked great.

Re: Harley Quinn Part 2

I don't recall posting that he had to be "pretty," I do have to like the art style to pay these kind of bucks though. These statues are not impulse purchases.

Well, for most of us anyways.

The Antithesis of Hideous is Pretty or Beautiful. I simply used your words. Not liking the art is one thing, calling the piece hideous is another. I get some people might think of this as "their" version of the Joker, however the 3750 people who bought it and the many others who are still looking for one might disagree.

That's fine, I get that many people like it. And that is fine; I simply find the art style to be ugly.

These forums are full of nothing BUT people denigrating, subtly or not, other people's choices. One need look no further than the "Movies and TV" forum for proof.... and many there are often even less polite than I just was.

Perhaps people need to identify a tidge less closely with the art which peoples their lives. Tastes will differ.

So I will wait for a version of the Joker - and of Harley, to be honest - that I find to be worthy of the significant cost one must shell out to own a PF. There is nothing wrong with waiting; no one gets hurt. I find that mindset preferable to the "GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL SO I CAN SCALP YOU ON EBAY!!" which we often see here, names not mentioned to protect the guilty. I don't buy things I do not like, so that those who DO will have a chance to own them.

Agreed 100% on those Joker comments.... but wait, you don't like this Harley? Where's my pitchfork!!!! :thwak:rotfl

But seriously my collection can look a bit eclectic with so called second tier characters in attendance and the main characters no where to be found but I collect what I like not what others tell me to like. I have a huge ranger of interests in the collectables world so there's always something else I do like for everything I don't like. Sometimes I'm happy not to like something because there is already way to much great stuff I do want.

I disagree with the statement in bold. If you don't completely identify with the art then you shouldn't be buying it. The point of art is to be able to identify with it on some level, it's supposed to make you passionate about the subject. If it doesn't, it failed.

Art is an expression, if you aren't into what that expression is, then why bother?

I don't care for her face, either one of them - and believe me no one is sadder about that than me..... I'm a huge fan of the character. But for $300+ I have to be in love with the piece.

Were we to adopt this as policy, everyone populating the "Movies and TV" forum would be falling on their swords. [Film is art, right? To me it is.]

Example: we have a small but diehard group over there who honestly seem to believe "Man of Steel" is the worst film ever made, because Christopher Reeve isn't in it - which is literally impossible, hell-O - and because Williams didn't do the score. Among other reasons. Should I fall on my sword because they hate "my" chosen art piece?

Nope, I am going to laugh and keep on rolling.

Hopefully those who bought the Joker PF are secure enough in their decision that my saying I don't care for it, will not rock their worlds too hard. They're adults, they can handle it. :peace

Yes and no. We're in a forum based on people expressing their opinions on statues and collectibles. The end game here to me is being able to speak with other people about new items and get a little more pleasure out of the pieces I buy. That being said, I like to encourage people to express their opinions on pieces but at the same time I don't really want to hear very bad things about pieces I'm excited about. Who does?

So with the comment of Joker being hideous, one coul simply say "that piece isn't for me. I don't relate to the concept and rendition of the character".

For me, I don't want to say anything that may make someone here love their piece any less.

In all fairness that post was in response to many of us being told we are failures as collectors for not owning the Joker. Joking or not that **** gets old after awhile. We get that people are proud of their pieces, but we don't need to have them either think less of us or throw those pieces in our faces so to speak. Joker was my second SSC piece and I sold him.... I didn't make a profit, only broke even, but in the end I sold him and I haven't cared for as much as a SECOND. However, that is just me, I don't think less of those who love him. So I don't get why people seem to care I didn't.:dunno

"Fall on their swords", no, I just wouldn't count on your words receiving a warm reception. I don't think anyone could make me feel the I love piece any less, but then when I also think it is so very closely translated from an artists work that I feel drew the definitive version of the character and I admire very much, I look at words such yours as insults, not only to the to the piece, but to his art as well. Not that I'm going to sit here and call you names over it, but I just find your opinion to be ludicrous. Either way you have your opinion, I have mine.
