That's probably my favorite photo of Luke in the entire trilogy. Very nice work, David!
It's been awhile since I've gotten a figure from Sideshow, so my credit card expired, which led to the delay in getting him. The Dagobah Luke in his flight suit is my favorite incarnation of Luke, so the extra wait was torture. He came today, and I left work early just to have the whole evening futzing and such. That said, I'm not quite sure what to make of this figure.
On the one hand, Sideshow appears to have treated this figure with love in their planning and design. For example, the balaclava on the helmeted head sculpt even features a separate chin strap. A neat, totally unnecessary detail, but definitely demonstrates that Sideshow took care with this one. However, like with so many figures, the execution leaves much to be desired. The helmeted head sculpt does not resemble Mark Hamill very well. As others have said, the eyebrows and cheek bones really distract. The unhelmeted head sculpt is poor, as well, owing to flat paint and SERIOUSLY dead eyes. I wanted to possibly display him with gloves off, helmet on, visor up, but it just wasn't working.
That said, I don't want to create the impression that the figure is a miss, because it's not. I have really enjoyed it, and he is a welcome addition to my collection. Having the figure in hand caused me to go back and re-watch The Empire Strikes Back. Although I was familiar with many of the differences between Hoth/Dagobah, I was surprised to see just how many differences there are. Rivets missing and chest boxes ALL over the place were the main 'new' things I saw. I also didn't know that under the flight suit, Luke was actually wearing his 'Bespin fatigues' (at least for one shot).
Anyways, before I even posed the figure, I stripped him down and made some slight modifications (I'm jealous that I didn't get to do it first, but THANK YOU Tee-Kay for the breakdown!!!). I removed the snow pants and red undergarment, as I want his clothing to hang on him, just like they do in the film. I Dremeled his rib section, so that his arms can hang more closely to his sides. I did not, however, modify the ankles to reduce his height. Unless grossly out-of-wack, height doesn't really bother me, and comparing him to my other recent purchase, Darth Maul, made me feel that his height was fine. But I am happy with the few modifications I made. I also dipped the lower sleeves/cuffs in water, to eliminate the fine wrinkles from the heavy gloves as packaged. I may or may not continue modifying the figure, but I think he's more or less where I want him to be, for now.
Thanks to everyone for all their opinions/observations/criticism. I only got one good photo tonight, but I'll probably take more soon.
One thing is for sure as far as i am concerned, this is sideshows best sixth scale Star Wars figure I've ever seen. Second place scout trooper And third place emperor/ tusken raider tie.
Im really glad i got this guy, the tailoring is fantastic. I can almost understand the price. Honestly i think this figure has a few of you old grumpy bastards that balked at it, a bit jealous.
Luke Skywalker - Reporting for Duty.
Snowspeeder Luke arrived today… 18-ish years after I began building a 1/6 Scale Snowspeeder!
First picture - Luke in the Speeder.
And then a couple more of Luke standing beside his ride.
Since I already have a custom Snowspeeder Luke that I put together awhile ago, I’ll probably turn this guy into a generic Hoth pilot to help flesh out the Hoth Rebel Base diorama.
Overall - very happy with the figure… but he is tall. I had to pop his feet off to get him to fit in the Speeder. Never had to do that with any other figure that I’ve placed in the pilot seat.
Recommend him to anyone still on the fence.
Thanks all for the comments on the Snowspeeder.
I don't really have any in-process pictures posted of the Speeder itself posted on the web, but there are more pictures of the Hoth Base diorama and a bunch of other stuff I've put together in my customs thread here...

Its the original belt that came with the figure. I just removed the hook from the original position and moved it over.Seriously, where did you get that belt? Thats not standard issue.

Looking at your photos i would think you'd also like a bit more variation in color and the feeling of a used suit. It's too clean looking imoThe jacket does have a dirt wash on it, it just doesn't show on photo's very well. I'm not sure what more weathering should be under consideration.......

I tried but it will not fit on the SSC Snowspeeder Luke head unless it's heavily modified.
Is everybody receiving this figure right now? I preordered last December, got my first Flex payment in April, should've had my second payment in May but received a notice that my second payment was pushed back to June 25th. Does this mean they won't ship it sooner, since it's obvious that they received their stock... Anybody in the same boat?
I put a deposit down on this guy 5 or 6 weeks ago and they charged the remaining balance a little over a week ago. I received him yesterday. Might wanna shoot them an email or give them a call.

I missed mine today. Ugh.
My Wife left the house five minutes before UPS came by.
Man I hate that! One time I saw the UPS notice on my door and I missed him by like 5 minutes. I drove around the neighborhood looking for the driver and luckily caught up with him.
