Quick little review of the pros and cons of the figure.

Pros:
- Figure looks outstanding on the shelf, really stands out and to me is the winner over X-wing Luke, which also looked terrific on the shelf (this head sculpt is much better to me--I replaced the X-wing Luke head with the HT head).
- Jacket is very nicely tailored and made, sharp details
- Boots are a bit too dark but nicer than the Hoth figure boots, I know most initially figured they would just re-use all the common parts from that figure.
- Helmet head sculpt looks pretty good, about as good as the prototype, and paint seems fine. Interesting that Sideshow chooses to show tiny pink dots across the skin as opposed to Hot Toys that chooses mostly tan freckling type of dots.

Cons:
- Too tall! Height looks to be the same as my HT Han figure which is on the same plane. I have Luke displayed with Yoda so it doesn't matter in the immediate detolf shelf, but still.
- Holster magnets all fell off while futzing so I just took the holster off.
- Has a bit of that frumpy proportions that Sideshow figures sometimes have, arms not tight to the body
- They really did make a regular and exclusive version, so I paid near full price from popcultcha and didn't get all the accessories
- That they didn't make the head sculpt like X-wing Luke where he could hold the helmet, really a shame as that can be a cool look
- Unhelmeted head sculpt, not sure I see myself ever using this, just came out kind of creepy--I think someone mentioned the bangs look like Dumb and Dumber.

Nice shot! Thanks for the review. Agree with all of your points, the glue they used on this figure to hold parts is just extremely weak. If you grab him on the chest those silver claps can pop off just with a gentle push and the belt quality is no lt the best.

Thanks, hokietwo!

Just based on the helmeted figure alone, ignoring the qc issues and price, it looks awesome and I'd be tempted to say it's the best Luke released to date--favorite outfit easily.

But it is hard to completely overlook that stuff. Too bad the ROTJ Luke has such specific Jedi hair as that might have been a decent sculpt to use on this figure.

Excellent pic, TonTon! :clap

I agree with every point you made about the pros and cons of this figure. The magnets on my holster were coming off left and right also, so I just took mine off as well. Plus, I think the holster actually makes the belt look totally inaccurate. When I first received my figure, I rewatched the Hoth battle scene to see what kind of futzing to it I needed to do, and there was never at any point on Hoth where he had the holster on his belt. However, when he arrived on Dagobah, he emerged from his X-Wing with the holster on his belt, but it had the thigh strap (which this of course, doesn't have). Guess he managed to add the holster to his belt while in his X-Wing during the trip to Dagobah.

I always intended to go for a true Rogue Group Hoth Snowspeeder look with mine more so than Dagobah, so even all the more reason to take the holster off for the sake of accuracy.

SIdeshow don't seem to care much about consistency. Back when they offered Hoth Han and Luke, Han came on a shorter body than Luke.

Sideshow always has an issue with its figures: height, wonky thumbs, you name it.

I want many of the figures they produce as much as any of you, but I just can't pay $250+ for shoddy work.

I've been thinking about those constant shortcoming and i believe it mostly come from a lack of control over production. Distance between Sideshow's headquarters and production site might be the reason. Maybe they lack people in China they can trust to oversee production properly and correct course if needed.

That doesn't explain incorrectly placed thumb joints. Even the dumbest floor manager can look at his own thumbs for how they're supposed to go.

Well. I might have lost faith in human nature but my point was that they may rely on business Partners giving no **** about delivering the best product possible.

Oh, well I agree with that. They don't really care.

I love the "its meant to be that way" emails. Once I saw those regarding 3PO's thumbs, I was pretty much done with Sideshow product.

Mine is out for delivery. Luckily I happen to be working from home today. I never know when I have to sign for these international deliveries until it's too late.

Why wouldn't they just put him on the same small body as other Luke figures?

They did put him on the same body as the x-wing Luke. The cups for the pegs are higher in the boot of the snowspeeder figure accounting for the extra height. I had a spare x-wing Luke body and it's exactly the same as my snowspeeder Luke body in every way except the skin tone is a little darker on the latter.
