I'm pleased for everyone who likes this but in my humble opinion it's not great. Not terrible, but not great. The sculpts are both atrocious, the paint job on the helmet is terrible and things like the lack of a grapple gun are just inexcusable. You can get it looking great but you have to replace the head, belt and boots with Dx07 parts.

Looks great... Still holding out waiting for my waitlist to convert. I contacted Sideshow Friday and they haven't closed out the waitlist yet.

So has anyone's converted lately???

I own it, and I somewhat agree with this.

I think it's a really cool figure personally. I like it more than I initially thought I would, but I still think I overpaid at $270 (or whatever the SSC retail price is). After having it in hand and could go back and repurchase this, I'd probably pay around $200 for it; $225 max. I'm not a fan of the unhelemeted sculpt, looks a bit too much of a caricature to me, but I think the helemeted sculpt is very good. Flight suit is also very good. However, I'd agree that the belt and the boots pale in comparison to the DX07 ones. Like you said, it also sorely lacks accessories.

I literally have mine just standing there in a museum pose with nothing in his hands. Removed the holster from the belt because at no point on Hoth did he have the holster on his belt; he didn't add it until he arrived on Dagobah and of course, it had the thigh strap, like the DX07 belt has. Having the holster on this belt is inaccurate in any scenario.

Agree with all the above critiques as well. I bought this for a Dagobah Luke arrival look anyway to pose with Yoda and R2. The Helmet sculpt is very good work for Sideshow but there are parts to this suit that are very poorly stitched and executed.

The belt is terrible and magnets popped off mine when I lifted the gun strap right out of the box. Gargantuan height, the vest greebles fell off when I grabbed a shoulder from the shelf from weak glue. I will leave the unhelmeted sculpt alone as those that own it know whats going on with it. I think the Hoth look with helmet on would work fine but agree for the price and the execution there is much to be desired on this piece.

Agree with all of what you said as well.

Just working with the stock figure and parts, I based the look of mine on this particular scene:

Adjusted some parts, nothing in his hands, no holster on belt, helmeted sculpt.

^ This scene always bugs me how they never quite got the timing right between the flight of the Falcon and Luke's head movement. It always seems as though Luke's eyes are following a ghost ship infront.

could be that he hears the noise of the falcon's engines before we can see it...

That's what I always tell myself.

You know the Millenium Falcon isn't real right... :)

Sorry couldn't resist !!

But I guess those were the days when CGI wasnt even invented so you had to work with what you had.

BCS is finally receiving these figures. What a delay! Just received the payment notice. I guess mine won't have the exclusive ungloved hands, right? I think I can live with that.

Never noticed that like I do whenever Hayden's Force Ghost is looking in a completely different direction at the end of ROTJ SE. How'd they screw that up or am I missing something?

:horror WHAT!!!

Seriously though still to this day that scene looks way more realistic than any PT scene. Mind you I guess that's not saying much :)

Well that's all folks. Just got an email saying my waitlist has been cancelled. Did they make 25 of these or what...

Keep an eye on the Popcultcha thread, an Australian store. They have 20% off sales every once in a while and really cheap shipping to the US (if that's where you are). That's where I got mine, for pretty much the regular SS price, but I had some point saved up.

One catch is it's the regular version rather than the exclusive.

So they rarely make any new SW figs anymore and routinely have been re-releasing old stuff that sells high on ebay to make easy money. The one new fig they do make is limited to 25 pieces and waaaaay overpriced:slap. I would expect another reissue next year, which sucks because it delays a HT release even further.

Easy money? They're supplying demand that also benefits collectors that missed out the first time. If they did make a new character, you'd complain that Sideshow is once again preventing HT from making it instead. And if there wasn't any demand, Sideshow wouldn't rerelease it and HT would then make theirs.

Personally, I'm happy Sideshow revisited their E-Web, Bossk, IG-88, and Speeder Bike; I have a feeling if it was left for HT to make them, we'd be waiting years for only a few of those which would be even more overpriced.

I agree on the lack of a grappling gun and "ATAT-killer" grenade - really no excuse for the price; the reason I researched/made them (and I thought I had solved that problem for everyone, but thanks to a bs SSF ban, that got sunk:mad:) The unhelmeted head is indeed strange, but to call the helmeted headsculpt "atrocious" is a real stretch. I'd agree on the Luke X head, maybe agree on the extra Luke Hoth head - but no way on this helmeted head. It captures Hamill really quite nicely and the apps are close to HT quality.

But I agree that something went slightly awry - in a number of ways - with the Snowspeeder utility belt beyond them forgetting the leg strap. But the HT belt has some inaccuracies of its own.

The HT DX boots are not accurate for the Snowspeeder battle scenes (which this fig was mostly intended to portray, even though they did show a couple of Dago pics) at least without a fair amount of modding. He does wear the thinner boots in a couple of shots on Hoth, but they are a paler/white version, or have the bright white straps, not the beige/brown versions seen on Dagobah.

I've been working up a Dago arrival display variation - trying to match the pic I loved as a little kid.

I'm currently experimenting with various tweaks to the hair and face on the unhelmeted sculpt - may try some lighter highlights on the hair (but all the HT Lukes have fairly dark hair.) This is a scratch-built version of the unique "Muppet Show" style blaster he is holding in that shot, not the regular blaster that came with the figure (people may not have noticed, but the balster that came with this fig is an all-new sculpt, not the same one released with Luke Hoth.) This is the WIP under flat/bright lighting:
