Cap, as nice as it is, would need some custom work to really be a display option. Hard to tell from my pics but there are several cuts that would need to be filled in order to look realistic. I suppose this is hardly a challenge for some of the master customizers around here though.

Thanks for the pics Tee-Kay! And showing us that the helmet can be taken off. I figured it was as I could move the top part, but didn't want to keep going just in case.

Be very gentle when you try and remove it. I have a feeling i got lucky with mine not breaking. Also, make sure to slide the chin strap all the way up to Luke's eyes before you start.

That's awesome!

"Two fighters against a Star Destroyer?"

That's exactly right! That's perfect Jim - yes, this is a figure of a character from ESB; no, it isn't REMOTELY Mark Hamill. Just goes to show that you can put pretty much anything inside an X-wing helmet and it will sorta kinda look like Luke Skywalker.

Brilliant work Tee Kay :clap

Thanks for the heads up on that one. I think I'll probably leave the helmet on actually in that case. But if I ever do thanks for the warning. I'm not sure why they didn't do it like the X-wing figure.

Actually, it does work like the X-Wing pilot version. only, this time around, it seems like they decided to glue the top parts to each side of the helmet. At least it's how it looks like on mine as there are clearly a few glue marks on each side parts of the helmet.

Tee kay, if the cuts are filled on the flight cap, I'm assuming it will no longer fit in the helmet? Those grooves are for specific slots in the helmet to fill to sit secure, is that right? Just thinking ahead if I decide to remove the helmet and mod the cap.

Cheers for the insider info

Yeah, I guess that's what I meant. The way it's not just easily meant to be removable. I mean it's spooky already taking apart the X-wing helmet, but this one seems glued like you said and it wasn't promoted to have that feature. I'm glad you got yours off fine though!

Yep. If you fill up those cuts, you get a definitive helmet less HS... unless you tweak that helmet as well that is.

I didn't really like this Snowspeeder Luke, or the Red Five Luke for that matter, so I decided to make my own custom version instead.

Recipe: Slim muscular body, Hasbro flight suit, DiD boots, Sideshow Red Five helmet, modified KO Farmboy Luke sculpt, Hot Toys ANH Vader gloves, HT Lightsaber, custom leather belt & holster by Gustavo Ponce & HT DX07 blaster. Weathering and head-mod (to fit the helmet) by me.

"Two fighters against a Star Destroyer?"

it is really great to see all the details and layers on this figure.

It is a pity that SSC had to abandon some ideas in the process (removable helmet, hooded head, etc) but it is clear to me that there are many possible tweaks to try with this figure.

Thanks for all the research guys!

this is beautiful!

Could you possibly specify which DID figure those boots came from? They look plastic, is that correct? I'm used to seeing leather DID boots.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks buddy!

Yes, they are plastic boots, but I can't remember which set they came from! I bought them on eBay for my custom ANH Han Solo initially, but ended up getting some nice leather Newline Miniatures boots for him, so I had these spare.

:clap Excellent pics and mod Tee-Kay, thanks for posting!

The figure looks much better after you fixed the height. Outfit looks pretty nice but I still hate the paintjob on the helmet. Your photos seem to confirm my earlier suspicions, the sculpt looks ok with the helmet on but is REALLY BAD if left to stand on it's own. Xwing figure had the same problem but I think it might be even worse in this case.

Not sure i'd blame the sculpts. It has more to do with paint application i believe. HT painting technique is an important breakthrough in the 1/6 industry and all other companies really suffer from the comparison.

Killer work Tee-Kay!

So has anyone tried the Hot Toys ESB hair on the regular sculpt? I really feel like that might help fix the weird look of the unhelmeted head.

I do think paint is the bigger issue. I look at the sculpt and I see Luke, but it's low-resolution. This without having seen it in-hand.

*Edit: Although the likeness is least evident to me on the unhelmeted but flight-cap covered view. Could be the eyebrows or the shape of the cheeks.
